Can we please have a civilized thread offering our prayers for Sen. Kennedy and his family? He has just been diagnosed with brain cancer (glioma) which has a very poor prognosis. The moderators have already been forced to pull at least FOUR threads on this topic due to uncivilized posters. If you feel the urge to post something unkind, don't.
MOD: Violation of decorum on this thread will be dealt with by immediate suspension. Thanks for your cooperation.
>>Prayers sent for Senator Kennedy and his family. A truly terrible diagnosis.<<
In full agreement...How absolutely horrible.
The stroke reports were bad, this is just nasty
Lord be with them,
Prayers for Mr. Kennedy on behalf of the millions of innocent souls that never saw the light of day
This is not the time to show your a$$. God loves Ted Kennedy JUST AS MUCH as he loves you or me. Prayers up for his recovery and the comfort of his family.
Jeez.....I'll have to start saving up some sleeping pills in case I get this.
buh-bye
Prayers up for Senator Kennedy, his family and doctors.
“’which has a very poor prognosis’
“Does this mean the tumor is inoperable? If so... I'm very sorry to hear about that...”
In that the tumor is said to be malignant, the prognosis isn't terribly good. It may well be operable, but it may not matter too much. My son had a Grade 1 pilocytic astrocytoma. Entirely benign. As well, completely encased and well-formed and defined. It was highly operable, and surgery removed 90+% of the tumor, which was benign, anyway.
But the malignant tumors aren't usually as well-defined, and getting most or all of it may not be possible. And since it's malignant, if you can't get it all, it means that radiation/chemotherapy is required.
A Grade 2 tumor is fairly well treatable, still somewhat well-defined, and if Sen. Kennedy has a Grade 2 glioma, he might die of old age before the tumor kills him. A Grade 3 or 4 is usually very poorly-defined, and surgery just won't do as much as one would like. My mother died from complications of treating of a Grade 4 glioma.
And then, the radiation therapy itself significantly increases risk of further cancers down the road. But at age 76, it's less of a concern that the radiation treatment may come back and kill you 10 or 20 years hence. Since my son is 10, we were glad that he didn't need radiation.
So, all things considered, it's possible that his prognosis may not be very poor. But it's not good.

Prayer BUMP
Jesus called us to love our enemies and the prayer he gave to us also cautions us to forgive as we would wish to be forgiven.
So let us all forgive Ted Kennedy for his trespasses as we would wish to be forgiven for our trespasses and wish him well in the difficult time to come.
The most common types of gliomas (if Wikipedia can be trusted) are resilient and extremely difficult to totally excise. They have a tendency to grow back quickly. It’s a very bad prognosis.
This is going to be a horrible ordeal for him and his family. That trumps politics.

Thank you for posting this thread. My immediate reaction to hearing about Ted K.’s tumor was that he is
BLESSED
to have
TIME
to get right with the Lord if (???) there are things he needs to repent for and beg forgiveness for and receive forgiveness for.
ACTS 26:18 is a wonderful Bible verse that has a basic pattern that comes to mind,
18 to open their eyes and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who are sanctified by faith that is in Me.’ [21st century KJV]
or
18 to open their eyes, in order to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who are sanctified by faith in Me. [NKJV]
or
18 To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me. [KJV]
or
18 to open their eyes so that they may turn from darkness to light and from the dominion of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who have been sanctified by faith in Me.’ [NASB]
or
17-18”’I’m sending you off to open the eyes of the outsiders so they can see the difference between dark and light, and choose light, see the difference between Satan and God, and choose God. I’m sending you off to present my offer of sins forgiven, and a place in the family, inviting them into the company of those who begin real living by believing in me.’ [paraphrase, The Message]

My prayer for Ted K.:
Heavenly Father, please reveal to Ted Kennedy that You are rich in mercy, and because of great Love with which You loved us, (even when we were dead in sin), You made us alive together with Christ, (it is by Grace we are saved).
Show Ted Kennedy now that You have raised us up together and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus, and in the ages to come You will show the exceeding riches of that grace in Your kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.
Help him to truly know that by grace we have been saved through faith, and that not of ourselves it, it is Your gift to us, not of works. No one can ever boast, we owe everything to You.
Thank You Father for loving Ted Kennedy. Increase his faith now, and pour Your mercy and grace upon him and his whole family. I ask this in the Highest Name, the Name of Jesus.
Amen and Amen.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Senator Kennedy and his family.
Amen to the first part. But, let's hope that Ted Kennedy realizes how wrong he has been and avoids God's vengeance. God will forgive anyone if they sincerely ask for His forgiveness.
I pray that he will beat this cancer, recover, and resign from the Senate to spend time with his family.
Mortality is the great equalizer. I pray Sen. Kennedy has accepted Jesus Christ as his savior and is ready for whatever (good or bad) his future holds.
Through God’s mercy, he had been granted time time for reflection, redemption, and even salvation, may he use it well.
Exactly , to the righteous.
Lord,
May Your healing power comfort and protect Senator Kennedy and his family.
Amen
