Senator Kennedy showed incredibly poor judgment that night in Chappaquidick. If he were a member of our family we would probably have forgiven him by now. Prayers for Senator Kennedy.

He (Teddy) could have easily just dropped dead, but this gives him pondering time, if you will.

His conscience is not dead, as shown by his not presenting himself for Communion at the papal mass, unlike some of his colleagues who did. I hope he finds the moral courage to repent publicly - it'll do him a world of good (literally)!

I wish only the best for Senator Kennedy. May The Lord heal him and I pray that He will deal with Mr. Kennedy’s heart that he may come to The Lord and ask for forgiveness. I pray for his family. I pray that, if it is Gods will, his sleep come swiftly and without suffering.

Dear codercpc,

“Assuming that scans of his brain were done during his carotid artery surgery in October 2007, and nothing was found, doesn’t that mean that this is a fast growing tumor (about 6 months).”

Not necessarily.

My son is mostly deaf in one ear, and had CT-scans when he was about 7 or 8 years old to try to tell us more about the possible cause of his deafness. The CT-scans didn't show his tumor, which was near the inner ear on the side where he has deafness.

I asked his doctors whether that meant that the tumor had grown within that two-year window. They said, not necessarily, in fact, probably not, since his type of tumor isn't especially aggressive, but rather that because of the way the scan was done, it didn't show. Apparently, CT-scans are less sensitive for tumors than are MRIs (or at least for my son's type of tumor, which is related to Sen. Kennedy's, but not malignant), and also, it depends on other factors like where exactly you take the “pictures,” angles, etc. At least, that's what my layman's understanding of the doctors’ explanations comes out as.

All that being said, it's quite possible that this is a very fast-growing tumor, and may have been only a fraction of its current size seven months ago. My wife told me the descriptions she heard on the radio - that they're having trouble locating the original "source" of the tumor. This sounds like my mother's fatal Grade 4 brain tumor. From diagnosis to her death was four weeks.

Prayers for Sen. Kennedy and his family.

Prayers for you Senator Kennedy. I pray that you will make a complete recovery. But if God chooses to bring you home, please tell your brothers that we miss them.

I see that the Speaker of the House has USED Senator Kennedy’s horrific medical problem to advance their socialist health care plan...they just keep showing how classless they really are.

Prayers up for the Kennedy family.

I would like to think most Freepers are bigger than that.

I remember crying the day Moynihan died, whether you agreed with his politics, he was a great man.

God give him peace during this difficult time. It is truly the end of an era in American politics.

Just heard on FOX a few minutes ago the docs have released the information that this tumor is inoperable. They haven’t said yet which stage tumor it is..

My prayers are with Senator Kennedy and his family. The family has had more than their share of heartbreak. May they find peace in their faith.

A Prayer for a Sick Person, when there appeareth but small hope of Recovery.

O FATHER of mercies, and God of all comfort, our only help in time of need; We fly unto thee for succour in behalf of this thy servant, here lying in great weakness of body. Look graciously upon him, O Lord; and the more the outward man decayeth, strengthen him, we beseech thee, so much the more continually with thy grace and Holy Spirit in the inner man. Give him unfeigned repentance for all the errors of his life past, and stedfast faith in thy Son Jesus; that his sins may be done away by thy mercy, and his pardon sealed in heaven; through the same thy Son, our Lord and Saviour. Amen.

Amen to your prayer, Blogger.

Lord, we call upon You to deliver this man from the illness that plagues him. Hide him in the shadow of Your mighty wings until these calamities have passed. Be his strength, his shield, his stronghold, and his sure defense. Grant him excellent care from the medical personnel, and bring goodness to him even in the midst of this trial. In the Name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
