Prayer Thread for Sen. Ted Kennedy (prayers ONLY, God is your Moderator)
Vanity ^ | May 20, 2008 | GovernmentShrinker

Posted on 05/20/2008 11:48:45 AM PDT by GovernmentShrinker

Can we please have a civilized thread offering our prayers for Sen. Kennedy and his family? He has just been diagnosed with brain cancer (glioma) which has a very poor prognosis. The moderators have already been forced to pull at least FOUR threads on this topic due to uncivilized posters. If you feel the urge to post something unkind, don't.

MOD: Violation of decorum on this thread will be dealt with by immediate suspension. Thanks for your cooperation.

Praying for peace of mind for Sen. Kennedy and his family.

May they all be blessed with the “peace that surpasseth all understanding.”

In which Kennedy/cancer thread do we discuss the medical aspects of brain cancer?

I had prostate cancer surgery in Feb. 12 2003 the same day that John Kerry did and we are both doing fine. You will too.

I can’t say what I want to about Sen. Kennedy here.

That could also be viewed as his purgatory to cleanse his soul for a quick rise to heaven after death. Painful as it is and horrible as it is, that is how I am able to get past my loved ones dying slowly for months, knowing they will be happy when their turn in line comes.

I was surprised to hear so many Republican senators calling Ted Kennedy their "friend". Senator Warner called him a friend of 40 years.

The Senate must indeed be a collegiate place.

My first thought when I heard, God has given him a time to come to terms. Prayer bump.

Such is the gracious God that we serve. He (Teddy) could have easily just dropped dead, but this gives him pondering time, if you will.

Althoough I have said prayers for Senator Kennedy and his family, I have prayed longer and more ardently for our own Jim Robinson.

Perhaps that makes me less of a Christian than I should be.

My condolences to the Kennedy family.

FreeRepublic as a whole is far classier than our counterparts on the left. Only 11 out of the first 150 posts here had to be admin-removed. That may sound high to you, but it's extremely low compared to other political boards. I first noticed this in the pre-WWW days, when Lee Atwater, Bush #41's top strategist in '88, was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor, and there were multitudes of postings on the Usenet political boards along the lines of "good riddance" and even gloating posts reveling in thoughts of his "exploding brain," as some of them put it. But even outside of the internet community, in the MSM, I saw the same behavior. When Nixon passed away, ultralib NYT columnist Anna Quindlen danced for joy on his grave and blasted Pres. Clinton when he continued the 200-year old tradition of ordering flags at federal facilities flown at halfmast to commemorate the death of an ex-President. She was absolutely livid that Clinton didn't choose to be the first Pres. ever to break that tradition.

So, kudos to Freepers for over 90% of them showing some class!

May Senator Kennedy be reconciled with God and man as he finishes his earthly course, whenever that time should come. May his soul rest in peace.

Re your ex-boyfriend’s death from brain cancer, sorry to hear about that. My cousin has a horrible brain tumor — much surgery 12 years ago helped relieve some of his pain. His is not cancerous, but grows like a vine down into neck, shoulder, arm. He is deaf in one ear now and has limited use of one arm. The headaches can be unbearable. Many times my cousin wanted his life to end but he is coping, and still works!

So though Ted Kennedy is not my favorite politician, I feel really bad for him and the family.
