Fairness Doctrine would muzzle truth from the airwaves Urge your member of congress to support the Broadcaster Freedom Act

H.R. 2905, The Broadcaster Freedom Act, introduced by Rep. Mike Pence (R-IN), would prohibit the Federal Communication Commission (FCC) from reinstating the so-called Fairness Doctrine, a former FCC policy that the agency revoked in 1987. The policy required broadcasters to air contrasting viewpoints about controversial issues of public importance (as decided by FCC bureaucrats) or risk losing their license. For example, pro-life stories would need to include comments from Planned Parenthood or another pro-abortion group. It stifled speech which is guaranteed in the Constitution, and yet because talk radio tends to be conservative, those who come from the Leftist end of the political continuum want to do what they can to muzzle it and stifle it.

The Democratic leadership in Congress is now maneuvering to bring back this Fairness Doctrine, which would require the nation's TV and radio broadcasters to make time for voices on both sides of controversial issues. According to Rep. Pence, "The Broadcaster Freedom Act would ensure that no future President could regulate the airwaves of America without an act of Congress."

I had requests for a repost so here it is:

The Democratics have been talking about "doing something" to silence broadcastors like Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Laura Ingraham, and the Internet Christian Conservatives in the form of FCC regulation using the FAIRNESS DOCTRINE. It is a censorship of free speech, and a violation of our First Amendment Rights. Rep Mike Pence is putting forth this legislation to continue to protect us for another year from use of the Fairness Dontrine, and has agreement of 300 in congress; but only 190 have signed petition. Pres Bush has agreed to sign. We must motivate those others promised to protect our right as conservatives to speak out for our faith, our conservative views and protection of internet podcasters and blogs.

OUR SUPPORT is to contact all representatives to go ahead and sign and support this bill by Rep. Mike Pence, so the FCC cannot violate our freespeech rights. This will also affect internet bloggers, and podcasters; even FREEREPUBLIC. So let’s get behind Pence and HP 2905

I have you on a ping list for important NEWS regarding our freedoms, Bill of Rights, major bills in congress, and breaking news. I do not POST Articles often...two today is unusual but Mojo114 insisted I repost the Broadcaster Freedom Act, because it isn’t just christians who are affected. If the FCC reinstates this without a congressional bill..now that is sneaky democratic behavior. Our 1st amendment rights are at stake here. I have a blog, and if you do, and you podcast or plan to podcast this will cause you grief. So if you want off this PING LIST then let me know and I will remove you...otherwise you’ll get a heads up on my POSTS...I have done three in eight yrs, this 4th is a repeat, so don’t think I will wear you out. The FCC can reimplement the 1934 FAIRNESS DOCTRINE which limits what you can say, and if you speak of pro life, then you must give other side. It is a way to sideline the Constitution with politically correct speech. It means if you broadcast on something you must give both sides....which waters down your accomplishing anything.

The problem as of SAT and airing of the program was that Pence had 300 promised votes, and only 190 had signed the petition that they would vote for it...it takes time to get it through Senate and to Pres Bush, who said he would sign it...if it drags out it may come before the next Pres who may not sign it...There is an OLD ARTICLE from Oct,1993 at following link explaining WHY the Fairness Doctrine is anything but fair:

What have you done on your blog about HP 2905 The Broadcaster Freedom Act? If we can help Pence get this through before Bush leaves office, it will add another year to our protection on blogs/podcasters and radio shows. Has Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity or Laura Ingraham addressed this yet?

Right, Don't think the time to push this bill is AFTER the GOP lost their majority after 6 years of complete control. Maybe I am just venting here, but the time would have been ANYTIME between 2000 and 2006. Geesh !! Same thing goes for Abortion, killing osama, border security, etc..etc..etc..
