The names of over 30,000 American scientists that reject the theory of anthropogenic global warming are to be revealed on Monday at the National Press Club in Washington, DC.

Somehow it seems a metaphysical certitude media will completely ignore this event.

As announced Thursday by PR Newswire via StreetInsider.com:

Oregon Institute of Science and Medicine (OISM)

Who: Dr. Arthur Robinson of the OISM

What: release of names in OISM "Petition Project"

When: 10 AM, Monday May 19

Where: Holeman Lounge at the National Press Club, 529 14th St., NW, Washington, DC

Why: the Oregon Institute of Science and Medicine (OISM) will announce that more than 31,000 scientists have signed a petition rejecting claims of human-caused global warming. The purpose of OISM's Petition Project is to demonstrate that the claim of "settled science" and an overwhelming "consensus" in favor of the hypothesis of human-caused global warming and consequent climate damage is wrong. No such consensus or settled science exists. As indicated by the petition text and signatory list, a very large number of American scientists reject this hypothesis.

It is evident that 31,072 Americans with university degrees in science - including 9,021 PhDs, are not "a few." Moreover, from the clear and strong petition statement that they have signed, it is evident that these 31,072 American scientists are not "skeptics."

Folks should recall that this petition was first circulated in 1999 garnering more than 19,000 signatures. The alarmists discounted its significance because there were some duplicate names, and some of the signatories apparently weren't scientists -- or so the story goes.

With over 31,000 now on the list, all with degrees in science, and 9,000 PhDs, what might this do to the nonsensical premise of their being a consensus concerning this issue?

Stay tuned.

Perhaps the MSM will ignore this because the Oregon Institute of Science and Medicine is a joke. I have a bachelor of science degree, so therefore I’m sure if I signed this petition I would be considered a “scientist.” The institute has a bit of a history of pushing this kind of bogus petition stuff. You might as well believe Matt Damon is the best male action star because he won the People’s Choice Award.

If highly esteemed Dr. Algore’s name is not present, the whole affair is bogus!

I’m sure that if this is mentioned at all by the MSM, it will be in the form of a “perp walk” for these scientists. ;-)

Maybe they should buy a full page ad in the NYTimes?

My PH.D. is in history, so I guess I can’t get on the list . . . but I reject it!

Nothing.

Global Warming's a religion, not a science.

There is political science and there is global warming, which is a politization of science.

Then the Global Warming Religionists will say, “Well, numbers don’t mean anything...”

IOW, they will completely reverse their previous arguments until they are SURE they have 31,001 scientists on their side.

Of course, it doesn’t help matters when President Bush, John McCain and Newt Gingrich agree with the stupid premise of Algore.

You don’t just “sign” the petition. You have to fill out a resume, explaining why your background makes you qualified to voice an opinion on the subject of global warming.

I went to sign since they were taking engineers as well, but I didn’t qualify because my field is apparently not acceptable.

Did you sign the petition and send it in and get a rejection notice? How do you know your field is not acceptable?

I read the qualifications they were looking for, and what I do doesn’t match what they are looking for.

I agree with them. I’m not an expert by training or education.

Any bets on the MSM ignoring them?

Good thing nobody was stupid enough to bet.

It is now just after 12:30 AM, MDT Thursday, May 22, 2008, and I have yet to hear a peep from the press about this past Monday's event.
