The Prince of Wales has warned that the world faces a series of natural disasters within 18 months unless urgent action is taken to save the rainforests.
In one of his most out-spoken interventions in the climate change debate, he said a £15 billion annual programme was required to halt deforestation or the world would have to live with the dire consequences.
"We will end up seeing more drought and starvation on a grand scale. Weather patterns will become even more terrifying and there will be less and less rainfall," he said.
"We are asking for something pretty dreadful unless we really understand the issues now and [the] urgency of them." The Prince said the rainforests, which provide the "air conditioning system for the entire planet", releasing water vapour and absorbing carbon, were being lost to poor farmers desperate to make a living.
[snip] Last month, the Prince had a meeting at St James's Palace with four state governors from Brazil to discuss the best way to allocate the money. One option would be for an organisation such as the World Bank to administer the fund. The Prince made clear yesterday that if nothing was done there was a "severe danger of losing a major part of the battle against climate change".

I see dumb people everywhere.
The ‘disaster’ is that the GW boondoggle will finally be exposed for what it is and the carbon credit people will have to come up with a new scam. Hence the urgency.
:)
The World Bank will be pleased to administer this eugenics programme.
I'm pretty sure their "solution" for [destrucion of rainforest by] poor farmers desperate to make a living would be the simple elimination of said 'poor farmers'.
Also, I would bet that not only are they 'poor farmers'; but they are also impoverished farmers. Poor farming = poor income. *<];-D
Bollocks, Charlie.
Dunno. Just looking at history.
Water vapor is not a gas. It is no more a gas than fog is. It is water.
Oh shut up Dumbo!
What special training and qualifications makes the ole’ Prince so qualified to push such dramatic actions on the climate?
...and CO^2 isn't a gas; it's dry ice?

WATER VAPOR: The most abundant greenhouse gas, it is the water present in the atmosphere in gaseous form. Water vapor is an important part of the natural greenhouse effect. While humans are not significantly increasing its concentration, it contributes to the enhanced greenhouse effect because the warming influence of greenhouse gases leads to a positive water vapor feedback. In addition to its role as a natural greenhouse gas, water vapor plays an important role in regulating the temperature of the planet because clouds form when excess water vapor in the atmosphere condenses to form ice and water droplets and precipitation
Water vapor IS a gas; Fog is created when water vapor is condensed into droplets, much the same as rain.
Relative humidity is the measure of how much water vapor is present under current conditions, compared to how much water vapor the atmosphere could hold under the same conditions. At 100% RH, the air is saturated; if the temp drops, or more water vapor is added, it condenses
to liquid either as dew, fog, cloud, etc.; or, under some conditions, skips the liquid phase, and condenses directly as ice crystals.
It’s amazing to me how he and al gore and others think they know more than God and Mother Nature. they surely think very highly of themselves.

18 months? We can live with that timeline then be able to shove it back and ask: “Well, what happened?”

Around 15 or 20 years ago there were media orgasms about a Ted Danson (Cheers) interview where he claimed the oceans were going to be dead in 10 years.
Nope, no one but us. We’ll remember this hysteria 18 months from now but us freepers.
Since the MSM never points out all the other fallacies and false predictions of the environmentalists, why are we waiting for them to point out this new one?
Environmentalism is a spearhead in the effort to bring socialism to America. The left and the MSM are in favor of govt control of our lives and see this as a good thing.
Others, Al Gore for instance, are just snake oil salesmen enriching themselves - which is a moral step up from advocating socialism.
Let’s not get our hopes up on this or any other issue and work to reduce the power of government in our lives.
Yours truly,
The Woim
