Prince Charles: Eighteen months to stop climate change disaster
Telegraph UK ^ | Last Updated: 1:08PM BST 18/05/2008 | Andrew Pierce

The Prince of Wales has warned that the world faces a series of natural disasters within 18 months unless urgent action is taken to save the rainforests.

In one of his most out-spoken interventions in the climate change debate, he said a £15 billion annual programme was required to halt deforestation or the world would have to live with the dire consequences.

"We will end up seeing more drought and starvation on a grand scale. Weather patterns will become even more terrifying and there will be less and less rainfall," he said.

"We are asking for something pretty dreadful unless we really understand the issues now and [the] urgency of them." The Prince said the rainforests, which provide the "air conditioning system for the entire planet", releasing water vapour and absorbing carbon, were being lost to poor farmers desperate to make a living.

[snip] Last month, the Prince had a meeting at St James's Palace with four state governors from Brazil to discuss the best way to allocate the money. One option would be for an organisation such as the World Bank to administer the fund. The Prince made clear yesterday that if nothing was done there was a "severe danger of losing a major part of the battle against climate change".

Prince Charles green yacht vacation

Excerpt -The National Energy Foundation website says the cruise will pump a total of some 200 tons of CO2 into the atmosphere, enough to fly the average passenger from London to New York 260 times.

Eco-hypocrites, pffft.

The poor demented Prince...

Obviously spent more time as a tampax to horseface, thus preventing a sufficient level of oxygen from reaching his brain....

Mad as a Hatter!

Long live Queen Elizabeth!!!!!!!!

"All I am ever trying to do is to provide an enabling facility," he said.

So he ADMITS he's "an enabler".

Finally! A "prediction" that is short range enough that people may remember it.

Sadly, I'm afraid not. First, the Telegraph article contains lots of enviroblather from His Royal Hysteria, but doesn't contain a quote that exactly matches the sensational headline to the article. That seems like a hallmark of British 'journalism', one that Matt Drudge has annoyingly brought to our own shores.

Second, the envirowhackos are too skilled at these games of rhetorical whack-a-mole to allow themselves to be painted into a corner. Eighteen months is the deadline by which the world must take action. The predicted doom still lies out far in the indefinite future. After the 18 month deadline passes, we will have to sit helplessly and await our doom at some unknown future moment that Charles does not feel compelled to share with us.

You beat me to it...about the time frame.

Bonnie Prince Charles now has to be praying and hoping for horrible natural disasters causing millons of deaths, both human and animal.

If these things do not happen, could it be said that the church of global warming will be severly damaged?

Algore has to be gritting his teeth and wishing that Charlie would keep his mouth shut...or at least extending his predictions to say....no less than 50 years..

I have nothing against Prince Charles, but this kind of abject stupidity is unforgivable. I wonder if His Highness realizes that the greatest forest in the world today is in one of his dominions, ie the arboreal forest of Canada. Bigger than the rain forest but nobody notices because it doesn't have exotic plants and colorful little creatures in it. Grow up, Prince.

Prince Charles: "However, on the positive side, our beer will be warmer and old Gordon here will have gobs of money to parcel out through the World Bank! Cheers!"

I guess that, as a prince, he’s been naturally-endowed with extra-sensory intelligences.

If we take longer than 18 months it will be too obvious that global warming is hoax.
