EXAMPLE
The most valuable gift you can give another is a good example.
"For I have given you an example, that you should do as I have done to you."
(John: 13:15)
In his autobiography, Armand Hammer known as much for his humanitarian efforts as for being chairman and CEO of Occidental Petroleum, an advisor to presidents from Roosevelt to Reagan, and an industrialist reveals the roots of his giving spirit:
"My father had become a prominent and greatly love figure in the area. . .It was an almost ecstatic experience for me to ride with him when he was on his doctor's rounds. . .Patients at their doors greeted him with such a warmth that waves of pride and honor would surge in me to find myself the son of such a father, a man so obviously good, so obviously deserving of the affection he received. He could have, however, made himself many times richer if he had insisted on collecting all of his bills; or if he could have restrained himself from giving money away; but then he would not have been the man he was. . .I have seen, in his office, drawers full of unpaid bills for which he refused to demand payment because he knew the difficult circumstances of the patients. And I heard innumerable stories from patients about leaving money behind to pay for the prescriptions he had written when he visited people who were too poor to eat, let alone pay the doctor."
What a wonderful legacy to leave your child the "business" of loving and giving to others.

GOD BLESS AND PROTECT OUR TROOPS!
Amazing Grace
by John Newton
Amazing grace! How sweet the sound That saved a wretch like me! I once was lost, but now am found; Was blind, but now I see. . Twas grace that taught my heart to fear, . And grace my fears relieved; How precious did that grace appear The hour I first believed! . Through many dangers, toils and snares, I have already come; Tis grace hath brought me safe thus far, And grace will lead me home. . The Lord has promised good to me, His Word my hope secures; He will my Shield and Portion be, As long as life endures. . Yea, when this flesh and heart shall fail, And mortal life shall cease, I shall possess, within the veil, A life of joy and peace. . The earth shall soon dissolve like snow, The sun forbear to shine; But God, Who called me here below, Will be forever mine. . When weve been there ten thousand years, Bright shining as the sun, Weve no less days to sing Gods praise Than when wed first begun.

Jam 5:10 Take, my brethren, the prophets, who have spoken in the name of the Lord, for an example of suffering affliction, and of patience.

Gods Strong Hands
Jacob was left alone; and a Man wrestled with him until the breaking of day. Genesis 32:24
In Genesis, it seems that almost every person and family mentioned is dysfunctional. The text is filled with accounts of jealousy, anger, violence, and deception that leave a trail of damaged relationships. Even Noah, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacoblauded as heroes of faith in Hebrews 11display flawed character and spiritual lapses. But God never leaves them that way.
Jacob defrauded his older twin Esau, who swore to kill him (Gen. 27:41). Then, before the estranged brothers would face each other after 20 years, Jacob wrestled with God. When asked his name, the conniving younger brother finally admitted who he was: Jacobthe deceiver (Gen. 32:24-27). That marked a spiritual turning point.
Noted preacher Carlyle Marney said that because God doesnt give up on us, we should not give up on ourselves. The last person on earth you will forgive a weakness is yourself, Dr. Marney wrote. Only in the gospel can men go on loving themselves. Wait on God! See what His strong hands will fashion out of your defection.
When we have turned back, God can turn us around. When we have destroyed, God can rebuild. Christ in the strong hands of God conquering my defection. This is the gospel.
Though weak and helpless in lifes fray
Gods mighty power shall be our stay;
Without, within, Hell set us free
His strength will give us victory. D. De Haan
There is victory in surrender when we are conquered by Christ.

It wasn’t an accident! We had a PGR mission today and there was a Coast Guard Flag flying along with the flags if other branches of the services. It reminded me of a truly great man.
The flowers was only one of a thousand things about him that I miss! Glad that you liked them!
THANKS for the great thread!
