A Valley boy, who shared his brave story with a Navy SEAL, got a surprise visit on Wednesday.
Within the last year Josh Coppoth, 10, was diagnosed with a brain tumor and has undergone a series of treatments.
Recently, his school decided they would write to Navy SEALs fighting overseas in Iraq.
The letters were a school project, where the students shared some interesting facts with their military pen pals.
Josh decided to talk about his cancer struggle.
The letter reads in part, "I've had 3 surgeries, too many hospital visits to count, one surgery is to remove a tumor on the back of my brain."
It goes on to say, "I've been through some tough stuff, but I'm still fighting strong. I hope you keep fighting strong...I wish I could meet you one day".
Nicholas Wuaguespack was the Navy SEAL receiving Josh's letter.
Nick says, "When I read this it really made me stop and think what I was doing out there and what I was doing it for."
So Nick made it a mission that when he was done fighting overseas, he meet Josh.
On Wednesday, much to Josh's surprise, Nick did just that.
"My team really wants to thank you, Josh, for sending your letter. Hopefully you'll find some courage out of that".
Josh was moved nearly to tears at the sight of Nick.
"Something that I really wanted to come true. I got to meet Nick and I just feel overwhelmed."
Local business Anderson Security helped arrange their meeting.
In addition to the meeting, they awarded Josh with a Citizenship Award along with $5000 in cash and a private plane trip up north for a weekend brunch.

Wow. What a wonderful antidote to all the anti-war barf that we usually have to wade through. This story just made my day. Thanks for posting it.
I appreciate posts like this...nice to hear about the good stuff that is happening
Dang!!! Made my screen get all fuzzy.
"Recently, his school decided they would write to Navy SEALs fighting overseas in Iraq."
Kudos as well to the school administration for this!
Great Teacher: for getting the kids to write the Seals.
Great Kid: for being able to maintain a positive attitude
during his illness.
Great Military Man: for responding to, and supporting the Kid.
Great Small businessman: for donating money and materiels to the Kid.
Great Media (at least this time): for reporting the story without any apparent negative assertions about President Bush and the War.
All in all, a great way to start my morning. (Now, if the darn screen would clear up ... )
Mine too!
