Prayers for Jim Robinson
May 14, 2008

Posted on 05/14/2008 5:16:40 PM PDT by trussell

Prayer Request

Jim Robinson is having surgery tomorrow, May 15th

See the posts below for information about this procedure.

Jim Update:

It has been a frustrating day, I finally have a update for everyone.

I called Jim at the hospital. The nurse was in his room and gave him the phone. Sheila took his cell phone to him so I will be able to contact him easier. Also they took his laptop.

Due to major pain killers, he was able to sleep in the bed last night and was in bed when I called.

He sounded better than he has for the past few months.
He will be there for at least one more night; maybe more depending on decisions being made tonight.

They may remove Jim's left leg at the knee tomorrow. The docs have told him that the poison in that leg is going to continue causing problems.

Jim is really reluctant to let them remove the leg but I told him that if it will relieve the pain and stop all the damage it is doing to his internal organs, he should let them take it. Jim cannot use his legs now. He only has limited use of his right leg and no muscle remains in his left leg. The muscular dystrophy has done a number on his muscles while he has been ill.

I hope this makes sense.

When I hear what the decision is, I will let you know. In the meantime, Jim needs our prayers tonight and tomorrow.

Father, hear our prayers.

Thanks for all the updates, Amy

I just talked to Chris and he said that Notpoliticallycorewrecked is visiting with Jim at this time.

He also said that the Doctors have decided that tomorrow Jim has to make the decision about his leg

The Doctors believe, as you stated, that it has to be removed to keep the infection from spreading.

So I imagine that is the decision he will make.

Don't worry about him getting online, he has an “air” card so he can get online anywhere.

He misses being able to read and post here tremendously naturally. This is his baby.

Good news that the swelling has gone down dramatically in his left leg and that for the first time in months he is not in pain 24 hrs a day and was able to sleep more than usual.

Chris had no idea how long he would be hospitalized, but I would imagine it will be several more days, especially if the operation on his leg is done soon.

Good advice you gave Jim, Amy.

Yes, Mama Bear don't hesitate to visit, it will be highly appreciated and encouraging to see such good friends as you and that jk I'm sure

Jim is blessed indeed to have family that are watching over him closely and taking care of his needs, getting him to the hospital and other numerous tasks

And the legion here that are pulling for him.

Today's short update:

I just talked to Jim; the surgery will be performed tomorrow. He doesn't know what time yet. He said he is feeling pretty good. Also, he slept off and on last night. May have been due to the stress.

I am going to try to see him this afternoon. He has some tests scheduled but he doesn't think they will take very long.

He is not allowed to have his laptop in the patient area so he cannot get online until he can get down to the lobby.

His words ..... "Please tell everyone how much I appreciate their thoughts and prayers. Oh Yeah ..... tell them I'll be back online as soon as I'm able.

Anyway, thank you for your prayers.

My, I thought Jim had undergone surgery a couple of weeks ago and I was thinking of him just today, wondering how he was doing.

Jim, you surely and certainly are in my prayers. I shall pray, “O Eternal Lord Christ, who art the strength of all who trust in Thee; I bring into thy Blessed Presence thy servant Jim. I know not what is best for him, but Thou knowest. I ask Thee to lay Thy healing hand upon him, giving him all that is needful for health of body and soul. I ask Thee to grant him patience and endurance, with a perfect dependence upon Thy never failing love and work out in him the good pleasure of Thy Holy Will, all which I and countless others ask in your Holy Name. Amen.

May God bless the means made use of for his cure and may He guide and direct those who minister to him so that there is a healthful issue out of his affliction, all which we pray in Jesus’ healing Name. Amen.

Hi Nan

According to Jim, when they got him rehydrated, his Uric acid returned to normal.

I’m trying to get a call thru so I can get the time the surgery is scheduled.

He looked good today but seemed kinda stressed. This was a very difficult decision for him. He said he, Sheila and Chris discussed it last night even tho they knew what the decision had to be.

Thanks for your special prayers, Nan

Thanks for the ping.

There is an article by Mitch Albom in the Detroit Free Press entitled

“What it truly means to stand up”

It’s a story of another Vet who faced a similar challenge.

Due to copyright complaint I cannot post it here,
but here is the link, and a megaditto, hug and prayer to you, Jim! Persevere.

Our son lost his leg to save his life. This was two years back, but he has survived and doing well. Things are in the hands of G-d for us all. Love, KC

Jim had gone through an angio recently. This surgery is for the infection that has been ravaging his body and is going to take his leg. I pray this relieves his pain and removes all the infection so he can get back to living.

Be strong and of a good courage...
Be not afraid,
Neither be thou dismayed,
For the Lord thy God is with thee
Whithersoever thou goest.

Joshua 1:9

Jim, this prayer has gotten me through a great deal. Please take it into your heart and soul. Our prayers are with you.

Jim. You know you have many friends from different places you have never meet. But we are all pulling for you. May HE hear our prayers in your behalf, and help you keep a clear mind as to what course you feel you must take.
Lossing a leg is a tough decision, but if you can completely heal from it and get back into the race... may HE guide your thoughts in this matter.
Stay the course Jim. Very best regards, George

There seems to be so many difficult decisions and bad news people are having to handle lately. One of my dear friends was told today she had an inoperable tumor and that she should get her affairs in order. My Mom and Dad continue to descend into Alzheimer's confusion. And you have to deal with the reality of your leg.

May God in His infinite mercy comfort you and all who have difficult times here on this Earth, in the sure knowledge that when we live again, we will be free of such distractions and we will be in perfect health.

And may you defeat this infection and remain here for a long time, doing the thing you do best, giving all of us a voice on the internet and a lever with which to move the world. May God bless you and yours.

Please know you are in my prayers, Jim. I have disagreed with you before on certain issues but I will forever be in debt for your creation of THE meeting place for conservatives of all stripes. Take care and God Bless.

Jim had angioplasty surgery on May 1st after blockage was found in both legs.

Everyone had hoped this would solve the problems that Jim was having. He continued to be in so much pain that he could not sleep in a bed. He slept in his wheelchair. His medical issues seemed to multipy. When he was taken by ambulance to the hospital last Sunday, they admitted him. He was dehydrated, his kidneys were not functioning properly and he was very weak.

Hopefully by removing the infected leg, with the help of antibotics his body will cleanse itself of the infection.

I should get an update sometime tonight.
