McCain wants to win the war.
Obama wants to lose the war.
Those are two issues a conservative can support.
You go ahead and vote for Obama, I'll do the grown up thing and vote for McCain.
McCain will take the path of least resistance with judges, as he has for at least ten years. He will appoint exactly one judge like Alito or Roberts. When they fail, he will go along with his friends and nominate someone they will like. I expect support for Iraq will follow the same path. The man has proven over and over that he has no principles, he takes the path that allows him to appear to be a success. McCain-Feingold, McCain-Lieberman, McCain-Kennedy... if they had not been running against each other, I would have expected a McCain-Clinton or McCain-Obama by now.
If he has any coat-tails, it will be to bring in Left of Center candidates like himself. We lose either way. If this impending disaster gets blamed upon Republicans/Conservatives, then the future is more dark.
What planet are you living on? McCain appointing judges like Alito. No way on God’s green earth that his buddies in the Rat party will confirm such an appointment. As far as winning the war in Iraq, we will be lucky to emerge with a military at all after his Rats buddies cut the defense budget, certainly will not be monies for forces in Iraq. The only hope for this republic is to rebuild the republican party or perhaps another party after the defeat of this “maverick”. Maybe he will do what he considered doing in 2001 and join the Rat party and take his supporters here with him.
2) Likewise on the war, emboldened by their new, big majorities (which McCain will give the Dems, even if he wins), they will de-fund the war or otherwise tie his hands so that he can't possibly win.
Better to let the Dems inherit Medicare, SS, and, yes, Iraq (which a McCain, who has no long-term vision, can't do much anyway) and we'll come back and get CONSERVATIVES to fix it in four years.
