As Senate Republicans today completely abandoned him on the issue of suspending deposits to the Strategic Petroleum Reserve, President Bush reversed himself and said he will consider a suspension, which he only recently outright rejected.

Our team....a bunch of GUTLESS SPINELESS WIMPS!!
The exact reason Bush and the rest of the Republicrats completely left all of US behind during the few years we had control of both houses and the White House...yet here I sit, WITHOUT one bit of control over my Social Security money (which is what Bush campaigned on) and still worried about the gun grabbing extremists.
Talk about being left behind.
Nope. They are their own team.
I was done with the pub before Fred and I am twice as done with them now. Let them twist in the wind.
I am shopping for a party now and it is looking like the time is ripe for a REAL conservative party.
The Republican Party damn sure isnt it.
I am open to suggestions, should you find one.
Careful...you are setting yourself up to be called a “fair weather friend”. I too, have been abandoned by the Repubs. Along with millions of others. But we’re wrong in our thinking! We must...drink...the...Kool... well, you get my drift.
Sigh...
I sorta thought W was fillin’ the reserve because he thought that if/when we/Israel attack Iran, they might have a good chance of closing Hormuz, and choking off a lot of the supply of oil.
That's the reason the Repubs agreed to this legislation...because it's the ONLY idea the Dems have expressed to reduce the cost of oil.
It was brilliant to get it passed quick (reserves are 97% full anyway). Now what will she do? When it has no effect, Pelosi will have to come up with another idea.
She will be in a corner. Because the only alternative is domestic drilling and building refineries.
Therefore, passing this legislation and passing it fast was good strategy IMO.
She will be in a corner. Because the only alternative is domestic drilling and building refineries.
If Marxists would come around when their ideas proved to fail, there wouldn't be any Marxists left.
When this doesn't work it won't be time to drill. It will be time to ban pickup trucks, put in a 55mph highway speed limit, put GPS trackers in your car with monthly mileage restrictions, tax oil companies, investigate gas station owners, etc.
Yep, they've got it covered.
< Want to buy a refinery? 220,000 barrels per day, 30 years old, running just fine but owners have to either upgrade or sell. Make offer.
When are we going to start getting a gander at what the Democrats drive?
There is a possibility and a real reason for doing this....it will be popular.
Mean while we don’t know how much of the remaining <3% is already purchased awaiting delivery. I think that the purchase orders are written and maybe even checks cut for much of the balance snd the bill is pretty much a meaningless PR move.
Bush’s political instincts are not good. While not filling the reserve will do nothing to help with oil prices it gives liberals an issue. Take their issue away.
Seems to me it is the other way around. As long as we are going along with the party we are "true conservatives." But when we state what we the core, we the people, want we the voters are "fair weather."
F*** `em. I'm done.
In a way I’m glad he is reversing because when they suspend it and it doesn’t decrease the price of fuel people may finally wake up and throw all the bums out of office.
