Federal Immigration agents on Monday arrested more than 300 people during a raid at a Postville meat processing plant.
The raid by agents from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement was the largest in Iowa history, Matt M. Dummermuth, U.S. attorney for the Northern District of Iowa, said at a news conference.
Dummermuth said the raid at the Agriprocessors Inc. plant in northeast Iowa came after months of planning, beginning in October 2007. Federal agents were helped by state and local police.
Authorities said more than 300 workers were arrested on a variety of charges included fraudulent use of Social Security numbers and identity theft.

Good!!!
Now they need to use the RICO law to go after Agriprocessors Inc, its board, and its executives confiscating ALL their assets and jailing the top 4 or 5 perps in a tough federal prison.
People should stop eating meat. Meat is “suffering on a plate.”
Oh, this can’t be. We all know Bush doesn’t allow this kind of thing. :::sarc tag in case it is needed:::
“Retired University of Northern Iowa professor Rosa Maria de Finlay approached the gate to offer her interpretation services, but she, too, was turned away by an agent.
De Finlay said she has stopped by Cattle Congress repeatedly today, checking the grounds for signs that people were being detained there. She said she saw no buses enter.
I think the money were spending on all this is incredible. You and I will never know how much it costs. That money could be used for something else other than this crap, this nonsense, she said.”
Three hundred people hiding in plain sight.
THREE HUNDRED....in IOWA.
And running drugs out of the plant to boot.
The United States are in the midst of greatest crime wave in all of their history, one that, undefeated, will end the nation.
And the leaders duck and run when anyone confronts them about this.
Iowa, Indiana, it's all flyover country anywise....
/like I should talk, I'm from MO
Nah, it's not suffering. It's dead. Then I cook it. Then I eat it. Yum!
I'm all about ending II, but this statement is not true. Actually, crime peaked out in the early 1990s, dropped a bit during Clinton's administration, dropped more during bush's first term, and has more or less stabilised at the level it was at around the late 1970s (which still isn't too good).
If God hadn’t intended man to eat animals, why did he make them out of meat?
I've found that my level of suffering is inversely proportional to the amount of meat on my plate.
Is that what you mean?
Poor Dane. It saddens me to think of her reading this news. :(
Didn’t you find it strange that one abusive supervisor was outed as a Hasidic (sp?) Jew? What was that all about. The race of the abusive female wasn’t revealed.
My take on this is that some people associated with that business need to go to prison.
Why would the unions seek to block this raid. Don’t they want union members to be employed there. That’s something that doesn’t make much sense, unless the unions are helping these folks vote illegaly and hope to be able to make union gains later on based on why they manage to elect.
Thanks for the tip to read the DM story. It was extensive.
I know Dummermuth. Great guy!! I’d trust him completely.
Thank TQC. I scanned the sucker and didn’t pay as close attention as I should have to the state. Oops. ;-)
A Mo. bro huh. I spent some time in Joplin and have traveled up to Olathe a number of times.
“Owners and operators should have been arrested for hiring of known illegals.”
...and fined $5000.00 per day for every day each criminal alien worked there. That would be 1.3 million per year for each illegal employee.
Once a few companies go belly, the rest will take the hint.
It's a kosher facility. All the supervisors (mashgichim) are Hasidic Jews.
Agri will very likely not re-open, they will probably move their facility to South America.
Meanwhile, Alouette's family will be importing meat from Canada.
