Maybe a good idea to start now for 2012 elections........not saying this party or the GOP is the answer. But the path we’re taking now is marginal at best IMO.....the lesser than option every time just plain sucks.

Stay safe !

I went over to the sight and nosed around. I saw a lot that I liked there. I didn't see any support for the war, although I did see a lot of support for the troops.

If we are going to do anything in reaction to terrorism, operations like Iraq and Afghanistan are going to be necessary. I don't like the idea of war, but you can't just stand around going ‘me oh my’ after terrorists do what they will do. You have to take action. We did. I would like to think the citizens of his nation at least have a clue as to why. Sadly, all too many of them don't.

I see a lot of talk about founding principles. I see talk of adhering to the founding ideas. In recent years I have found that to mean that we shouldn't get involved in foreign entanglements. Absent any expression of support for the War Against Terrorism in the Military section of the sight, I cannot help but think the Independent party does not support it.

That is unfortunate. I have registered as an Independent. And at the present time I could no more vote for their candidate than I can the Republican candidate.

The have linked Ron Paul's comments on ‘No More Hegemony’. That's a great high school term paper, but it's not an adult look at the world from a position of reality.

There is going to be hegemony in the world. The question is, who will be the leading hegemon? If the U.S. withdraws from being the leading hegemon, is that going to end hegemony? Of course not. China, Russia, someone is going to fill the void left by the U.S. And when that nation does, we slowly die out as a world force. If we're not selling our point of view around the world, someone else will sell theirs.

I can see a lot of reasons why someone could back the Independent party. I can also see a very big deal breaker for me. The U.S. MUST stay the top dog. If it does not, the world slowly goes dark as a nation like China imposes it's world view.

Is anyone listening? I sometimes wonder.

Squantos, I know you understand where I'm coming from, so don't think this is directed at you. I appreciate the ping to this topic.

You take care.
