Michelle Obama has spoken frequently on the campaign trail about the amount of student loans she and Barack had to take out to get through Harvard and Princeton. Worse yet, she had to pay them back!
As she has many times in the past, Mrs. Obama complains about the lasting burden of student loans dating from her days at Princeton and Harvard Law School. She talks about people who end up taking years and years, until middle age, to pay off their debts. The salaries dont keep up with the cost of paying off the debt, so youre in your 40s, still paying off your debt at a time when you have to save for your kids, she says.
Barack and I were in that position, she continues. The only reason were not in that position is that Barack wrote two best-selling books It was like Jack and his magic beans. But up until a few years ago, we were struggling to figure out how we would save for our kids.
Good thing for that Rev. Wright sermon that inspired The Audacity of Hope! Perhaps Michelle should be asking for a refund? It appears her husband, no doubt an exceedingly smart and capable man, is having some trouble with the basics, like American history and math.
Jack Kelly, a Marine, a Green Beret, a high ranking pentagon official (deputy assistant secretary of the Air Force in the Reagan administration) and now a journalist focusing on national security issues, offered up a remedial history lesson for Barack earlier this week,
In his victory speech after the North Carolina primary, Sen. Barack Obama said something that is all the more remarkable for how little it has been remarked upon.
In defending his stated intent to meet with Americas enemies without preconditions, Sen. Obama said: I trust the American people to understand that it is not weakness, but wisdom to talk not just to our friends, but to our enemies, like Roosevelt did, and Kennedy did, and Truman did.
That he made this statement, and that it passed without comment by the journalists covering his speech indicates either breathtaking ignorance of history on the part of both, or deceit.
I assume the Roosevelt to whom Sen. Obama referred is Franklin D. Roosevelt. Our enemies in World War II were Nazi Germany, headed by Adolf Hitler; fascist Italy, headed by Benito Mussolini, and militarist Japan, headed by Hideki Tojo. FDR talked directly with none of them before the outbreak of hostilities, and his policy once war began was unconditional surrender.
FDR died before victory was achieved, and was succeeded by Harry Truman. Truman did not modify the policy of unconditional surrender. He ended that war not with negotiation, but with the atomic bomb.
Harry Truman also was president when North Korea invaded South Korea in June, 1950. President Trumans response was not to call up North Korean dictator Kim Il Sung for a chat. It was to send troops.
We learned yesterday that during this long campaign, Barack has visited 57 states with one to go
The far more important issue here is the one noted above by Jack Kelley. The Atlantics Mark Ambinder summed up the video nicely by writing,
Obama is tired, nothing more. But if John McCain did this if he mistakenly said hed visited 57 states the media would be all up in his grill, accusing him of a senior moment.
...all the while living in a country and a culture controlled by rich white people."
Obama graduated from Columbia, then attended Harvard Law School.
Obama is an activist lawyer and neoMarxist. He has no knowledge of history, no knowledge of economics, and no sense of morality - except when it comes to criticizing others.
And the sheeple love him. We are sooooo hosed.
yes, how come the “man” didn’t keep him down? Further more, why were his wife and he even allowed to go to Harvard and Yale?? Bastions of the rich whites. Its puzzling.
correction:Princeton
<...we are soooo hosed...>
I can understand your despair, but we MUST get out the truth of who Barack Hussein Obama really is.
His past actions as an activist in Chicago, his associations with radical Marxists/Communists throughout his life up until now, all need futher research and then publication.
The American people are not stupid. Unfortunately they are not served well at all by the MSM. And they don’t like George Bush.
Our difficulty will be in getting out the information. We shouldn’t expect any help from the MSM - they are in deep for Obama. This forum, conservative blogs, and becoming conservative activists ourselves in communities around this nation is the path we’ll have to travel to get the truth about Obama out in the open.
Yes. I believe Michelle earned her bacclaureate from Princeton and Barack earned his from Columbia (started at Occidental College, California). Neither attended Yale University.
From your keyboard to the sheeple’s ears. I hope you’re right...but I know a lot of people who are so uninformed it’s scary.
Probably Boreo and the missus received affirmative action grants and skated thro with little or no tuition.
Do they not listen to the RACIST words of Jeremiah Wright or Michelle Obama?
Sheesh. Talk about stuck on stupid.
Maybe Michelle should have WORKED her way through college. She might have a different take on things.
And every time he says it, I want to "toss my cookies." Hillary Rodham Clinton's voice isn't nearly as grating as Barack Hussein Obama's is.
If the Republicans had a real candidate beating this liberal jerk would be like shooting fish in a barrel. But noooooo! We get McLame. Dole light. Hell, Dole was a better candidate. I am sick to my stomach. McCain? Not even a real Republican much less a conservative. How do you like your democrats? Mild, medium or hot? Comes with celery sticks and blue cheese.
Going to Princeton, Columbia, and Harvard was a huge risk even in their day. (There was a huge risk of the eventual salary not being able to pay for the student loans) They do not realize how lucky they are.
But rather than tell young people, “think twice before you enroll in an Ivy league school,” she says “write a blank check, taxpayers.”
Well, guess what? Their salaries aren’t keeping up with the cost of the student loans either.
The schools and their endowment funds should be the ones to guarantee their students’ loans.
