Wow, what a collection of cant, short-sightedness, and sloganeering, full of nonsense pulled right out of the author's hindquarters like:
If we blame the war for only $10 of the $80$90 rise in the price of a barrel of oil since 2003, that would still come to $200 million a day.
Is he saying that without the war, leaving in power a regime that did nothing but invade its neighbors, the situation would be *more* stable? And current Iraqi oil production exceeds that of Saddam's Iraq anyway.

The simple answer is that we will never be out of Iraq; one only needs to look at the free flow of money to notice the spigot is wide open and the lobbyist will oppose any change - a bad side affect of contracting; taking the candy away from the baby is a hard thing to do!

The answer is hopefully not anytime soon.
He is wrong about Rumsfeld.
Rumsfeld was awesome. I loved his press conferences and we had a referendum on his war. It was called election 2004. Bush won and the Iraq war critics lost.
Rumself implemented 3 democratic elections in Iraq in 2005 better attended than any American election. He trained tens of thousands of Iraqi military and defeated th Al Qaeda surge in Iraq that began in 2002 with the arrival of Zarqawi.
