Germany, Japan, Korea, Kosovo, will we ever get out?

OK, how many American troops are killed every day in those countries? How many local citizens?

Apples and oranges. Those countries are stable, mature, and want to do the WORK that democracy requires.

The problem with Iraq is the same one the US military found in Vietnam - the locals just don't care enough about democracy to do the hard work. And "whatever" societies provide poor soil for growing democracy.
