LITTLE ROCK - Its a happy Mothers Day for an Arkansas woman shes pregnant with her 18th child.
Michelle Duggar, 41, is due on New Years Day, and the latest addition will join seven sisters and 10 brothers. There are two sets of twins.
"Weve had three in January, three in December. Those two months are a busy time for us," she said, laughing.

not so.....I watched them on a special on TLC. They are individually loved and they are quite well rounded. They are good christians and they love their children.
They are indeed a most beautiful family, and have an absolutely awesome house. I’ve had countless fantasies about a house like that. Amazingly, the house was built debt-free. They are both real-estate agents. Somehow, some way, they make enough money to support their family. Certainly their yearly income is several $100k’s, I can only imagine.
I wouldn’t know about 18, but I’m oldest of seven and we had plenty of love and affection to go around. I don’t plan on quite that many - five sounds good, we’ll see - but the idea that you can’t have more than three or they get no attention is stupid.
The earth is not overpopulated. That’s a fallacy from the 70s. The number of births is actually below replacement levels. For a few more years, we’ll see a slight increase in human population, but that’s only because people live longer. Within a decade, we’ll see human population decreasing — which will foster economic decline and perhaps other kinds of declines.

Some days it’s really hard to keep from being a snarky jerk.
I usually fail.
Five children is a good start, too bad their father wasn’t worthy of them. I’ve always wanted to have a large family, but circumstances prevented that from happening. Now I just stand back and cheer for those who have the nerves and heart to do what I can’t.
Both my father and mother came from large farm families - my father had thirteen siblings, my mother had nine - I myself had six sisters and one brother - a family of seven children.
There was plenty of love but we learned to wait our turn.
I am addressing what I see in the films of the Duggar family - not that large families are wrong.
“Replicating”? Why such a derogatory term for giving life?
“The Duggars are plastic machines.”
You got all of that out of a newspaper article? They wear similar clothes because they make it themselves. What you see is a snippet of cleaned up kids for filming/pictures. You are not there in their daily lives seeing how they live. Your statement is just ridiculous. That family gathers around the table several times a day for meals and for praying. They have play rooms built into the house. They are healthy, happy children. I love the sibling interaction. We have a similar routine going at our house and we only have 4 kids. There is nothing wrong with doling out responsibilities to your children.
I don’t have any doubt that the Duggers love each other.
Children are not a curse. They can be difficult, but Scripture clearly labels them a “blessing.”
How many kids did Jacob/Israel have?
I’m a wee bit envious also. THey are a wonderful family!
God bless them.....I know I don’t have what it takes!
Obviously you have never been in a large family.
Why can’t you do both?
I have watched every television event of the Duggars because I am honestly concerned the children aren’t receiving their fair share of individual attention.
Perhaps I see it from a different point of view or perhaps the fact that people are different when a camera is running - and the children seem fine but just not spontaneous.
Maybe they edit out some of the pranks the kids might be playing - but then I ask “Why would they?” Kids do lots of things which get them into trouble - I only hope the Duggar kids are allowed to as well.
I hope they are allowed to be normal and loved. That is all.
Amen.
My wife grew up in West Virginia and she said one of the neighbor ladies had 21...
Wow- that post sounds really well thought out and ignorant of the reality of large family life.
Many siblings? I think maybe you speak without first hand knowledge.Or if you did have a large family growing up, and experienced some of the issues in your post, I feel truly sorry for you, but thats atypical of a large family with a comitted mother and father.
