The technological and economical development of Scandinavia (including Finland) is today more groundbreking than anywhere else in the world. The investments being made in relation to population size is mind-boggling.
Despite a mere population of 25 million inhabitants, the combined GDP of the Scandinavian countries today ridicules that of a Russia often viewed to be a "reborn" super power "on the go" (combined Scandinavian GDP is actually 125% that of of Russia - and the gap is widening!!)
But, let's focus on telecommunications here;
Five bidders have paid €226 million ($346 million) for fourth generation (4G), super-fast mobile telephony licences, the Swedish Post and Telecom Agency (PTS) said on Thursday.

Still, one can’t deny restored Lutheran work ethics, a political orientation towards Conservatism, Capitalism and heavy investments in R&D, education and infrastructure instead of Socialist experiments do function.
As a well educated son of Scandinavia, I’m not surprised of our recent achievements (and no, Sweden and Finland has no oil).
We are a Socialist swamp no longer. But we’re still too Socialist.

This young woman is, obviously, proud of being Swedish.
Women like her, who stand up for themselves as true females as well as daughters of a proud nation, make me proud of being a son of the Vikings.

We believe in masculine incomes, like those stemming from hard toil and competent industrial activity.
Furthermore, we usally play Ice hockey pretty well (although we lost to Switzerland the other day:D).

- Undeniably, they have the oil, we have the women.
But actually, I’ve come across extremely beautiful Norwegian women who get quite annoyed by such claims. The single most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen - at all (including TV, Internet and everything) - was in fact Norwegian and she was constantly upset about the self-glorification she thought Swedish ladies were up to. Women..

I personally HATE tatoos, BUT words can’t express how much I love and adore my good Swedish sisters.
Personally, I’d give in.
Not to nitpick but as someone who is about 40% Norwegian, I must ask is Finland considered part of Scandinavia?
I though Scandianvia was Norway, Sweden, and Denmark (Iceland?)
- There are, actually, only two Scandinavian countries speaking out of strict geographical and geological principles:
Russia and Germany.
Just joking, Norway and Sweden they are.
Denmark and Iceland, together with Sw + Nor are mostly thought of as Scandinavian countries because of their common Viking background.
Finland used to belong to Sweden (Sweden lost Finland to Russia in the Napoleon wars) and also shares several of the cultural traits of the other Nordic countries.
Finland is highly respected among the “Viking” countries; they share our culture of honesty and individual self-reliance (and as a Swede I must admit they often outperform us, although seldom in ice hockey).
Finns may not be “Vikings” but are equals in the matter of behavior; humble in speech, bold in action.
Personally, I talk a lot, whenever given an opportunity. This is typical of us natives of Gothenburg, largest port city of the Nordic countries where I live:D. It's called “tjôta” (difficult to translate as it signifies a whole culture, but the word “jabber” comes close).
I boast some. Admit that, but being an inhabitant of a Scandinavia country dismantling Socialism is great!

Technically, no. That’s why (I suppose) the author felt obliged to insert “(including Finland)” after “Scandinavia”. In the strictest sense Scandinavia includes Sweden and Norway, only. In a broader sense it includes Denmark and Iceland, as well. As far as I know, Finland has never been “Scandinavian”, especially considering that Finnish language and ethnicity are totally unrelated to those belonging to typical “Nordic” peoples.

- Apart from what I've pointed out above (concerning Finland having been a part of Sweden and since ages having shared many cultural traits of the “real” Scandinavian countries), Finland is, from a geographical point of view part of Fennoscandia.
Despite the fact that the Finnish language isn't a Nordic one, not even Indo-European in fact (about 5% are native Swedish speakers though), Finland is viewed as one of the Nordic Countries by the other Nordic countries.
Just like a lot of people who for generations have been plagued by Feudalism, Nazism and Communism the Finns are today taking part in creating something certain Germans (especially those who, for certain reasons, hate both Fascism and Communism) call Gross-Schweden!
A more suitable expression from a Swedish diplomatic stance might however be; The Greater Baltic Region.
