I saw Col. George Bud Day, talking about his and John McCain’s war experiences and it is very moving, and shows that John McCain has strength of character when it counts.
Thanks for the link. Good post!!
Thanks for posting this

Jane Fonda can be expected to issue a press release any day now saying that these are the lies of capitalist pigs.
I highly respect and honor Senator McCain for the hell he went through as a POW, he truly is what makes me proud of our military and veterans! :*)
(Unfortunately I do have a bone to pick with him over his ‘moderate’ (i.e. liberal) leanings in so many areas...)
My tagline is my comment.

My (VOA’s) comment:
I read “American Patriot” after seeing the segment on it on Book TV
(C-Span 2 weekends).
My own impression of Col. Bud Day’s take on John McCain during their
stay at The Hanoi Hilton was: McCain was a mixed bag in Day’s appraisal.
The Positives on McCain: Bulldog tough, didn’t take advantage of
offers from the North Vietnamese, and hanged tough when the going was rough.
The Negatives: a womanizer, and usually “playing to the crowd”, and
also “MIA” following the war as concerned veteran reunions, etc.
Those are just my inexpert impressions.
And I have to admit that having been mildly suprised to see Col. Bud
Day on a podium with Senator McCain during the Iowa primary, (both
in fighter pilot jackets)...I think I made the same calculation that
Col. Day made:
McCain isn’t perfect.
McCain has flaws.
But his positives exceed his negatives.
AND
McCain’s positives FAR exceed Hillary!/Obama’s.
McCain’s negatives are less than Hillary!/Obama’s.
I know I’m being VERY presumptuous to assume why Col. Day has turned
out as a real supporter of McCain.
But, given the flawed world we live in and the limitations of the
process for selecting our candidates...
I’ll just have to follow two guiding principles for the November Election:
1. Trust Col. Day’s judgement
2. Hold my nose in voting for McCain despite his negatives.
It’s a pretty unpalatable situation.
But that’s my personal approach to the situation.
If McCain were a Democrat, there would be three or four Hollywood movies about his captivity by now.
Instead, we are on our fourth Hollywood movie about Che Guevara.
Thank you for posting. Allow me to head off the disgraceful, idiot remarks by calling them that.
There are many things I disagree with John McCain about.
But he is, in my humble opinion, a hero.
I can’t imagine the hell he went through. The hell they all went through.
God bless each and every one of them.
Meanwhile, Obomber's roommate (for what - the last decade?) describes, again, how and why America sucks.

If I were the Vietnamese I would be verry nervous right now.
I am not a McCain supporter but reading this story does give me a lot more respect for him. He definately went through a lot and is a true military hero.
Thanks for posting this article.
Good read, thanks for posting, Matty. As much as I can’t stand the guy politically and encourage everyone to vote for Barr, few things piss me off more than reading freepers question McCain’s conduct as a POW. There was a special on Nam POW’s on PBS about 5 years back or so that was (surprisingly) outstanding. McCain was interviewed in it and if I recall correctly, this George Day dude was as well. If you haven’t seen it, I’ll see if I can dig up a YouTube or Botorrent for you. Lemme know.
