(CBS) Now that actor Alec Baldwin is 50 years old, he might run for political office. Baldwin talks to 60 Minutes correspondent Morley Safer about that and other aspects of his life, including his very public divorce and custody battle, in a profile to be broadcast this Sunday, May 11, at 7 p.m. ET/PT.
A decade ago, Baldwin was interested in politics, but said he was only 39 and all the people who ran the world were in their fifties. Since then, he has publicly dismissed the notion of running for office. A few weeks ago, he changed his mind. "There's other things I want to do [besides acting]. I mean, in a matter of weeks, I'm going to be 50," says Baldwin, who turned 50 on April 3. "Theres no age limit on running for office, to a degree. [It is] something I might do one day," says Baldwin.
Baldwin says he is ready for the public scrutiny and realizes the tact one must use when running for office because he's learned a lesson about what he says and how it can affect others in the nasty divorce-custody battle with his ex-wife, Kim Basinger. The spat resulted in the publication of an embarrassing voicemail to his daughter in which he calls her a "thoughtless little pig."

It would be good if we can train (like a seal) him to blow his top with Ahmedinejad & Co.
He called his daughter a lil pig.. and he thinks that wouldn’t be looped every hour by his ex wife? Which is nothing compared to what we can do to him. A coke addiction is very bad..
I think he should continue to focus on his duties as head of the Film Actors Guild.
The same Alec Baldwin who called his daughter a pig and threatened to do her physical harm?
See number 28.
Hope you get this stuck in your head all day like I will now... :-)
Jayne!
The Man they call Jayne!
Oh, He robbed from the rich
and he gave to the poor.
Stood up to the man
and he gave him what for.
Our love for him now
ain’t hard to explain.
The hero of Canton
the man they call Jayne.
Our Jayne saw the mudders’ backs breakin’.
He saw the mudders’ lament.
And he saw the Magistrate takin’
every dollar and leavin’ five cents.
So he said: “You can’t do that to my people.”
said “You can’t crush them under your heel.”
So Jayne strapped on his hat
and in 5 seconds flat
stole everythin’ Boss Higgins had to steal.
Oh, He robbed from the rich
and he gave to the poor.
Stood up to the man
and he gave him what for.
Our love for him now
ain’t hard to explain.
The hero of Canton
the man they call Jayne.
Now here is what separates heroes
from common folk like you and I.
The man they call Jayne
he turned ‘round his plane
and let that money hit sky.
He dropped it onto our houses
he dropped it into our yards.
The man they called Jayne
he stole away our pain
and headed out for the stars!
(Here we go!)
He robbed from the rich
and he gave to the poor.
Stood up to the man
and he gave him what for.
Our love for him now
ain’t hard to explain.
The hero of Canton
the man they call Jayne...
Sometimes, I catch Stephen on cable in one of those religious tele-plays about armageddon and the anti-christ.
Interesting, but he still seems a little “off” ;)
Much nicer than his oldest brother, but he sorta creeps me out.
BTW, sorry about my misspelling of Jayne.
No way. There’s not enough money in it.
I didn’t even know it was spelled that way until I searched it out.
“Firefly” would probably still be making new episodes if Fox didn’t screw things up so badly for that show.
I know, the few episodes they made were some of the best Sci-Fi in 20 years IMHO, the sales of the DVD’s and Serenity confirmed that the day they were released.
I agree. He is a devout Christian and a conservative.
Speaking of Alec’s attempt at radio, his Christian consersative brother has done a couple of radio shows with “Musclehead” Kevin McCullough. I listened and they did great.
