Eddy Arnold Dies

As a youngster, I was forced to license to his eight-tracks over and over on most all road trips. While I didn't particularly care for it then, I've come to like appreciate it. Can't help humming along when I hear some of his songs.

Whether you like his music or not, there's no denying that he was a first-class guy. God bless him and his family.

When my granddad died 'Make the World Go Away' was being played all the time on the radio. I remember being in the hospital and hearing the song on the radio. My grandddad, who was in absolute misery from leukemia, made everyone hush whenever the song came on. I took it to mean that he wanted the world to go away...to die. I was just a kid but I still remember that and it was years before I could hear that song without tearing up.

RIP Eddy Arnold. the Tennessee Plow boy was the real deal. I sttill love his music.

Bless you. I loved my Grandpa so much. He was my best advocate and I have missed him greatly. He had a little old stereo radio he would sit in a chair and listen to while he smoked his Hav-A-Tampa cigars. LOL He loved Eddy Arnold, Hee Haw, Red Skelton, Florida, and the USA!

Oh ...and he also loved his granddaughter a whole lot!

Blasted hip fracture...for seasoned citizens so immobilized, it often means a rapid cascade of medical problems that leads to death within weeks. The world has lost a man who still had a lot to give. Rats.

Eddy Arnold bought a bunch of brushy land south of Nashville back when he first started making money in his singing career. His fellow country music singers made fun of him for buying worthless "swampland." That worthless land became some of the most valuable land in the area and made Eddy Arnold very rich. That land now is part of Brentwood, one of the wealthiest suburbs of Nashville.

Rest in peace, Eddy Arnold. You and your wonderful voice will always be remembered.
