I think since they--whomever they are--since they could not find anything wrong with him as a person, there seemingly has been an attempt to reach out and find something wrong with those who are allegedly around him. Everybody keeps saying, Well, he sat there for 20 years." For starters, he didnt sit there for 20 years, right? Hes been a member for 20 years. Hes not sat there for 20 years. For three years, he was in law school. Another eight years, he was in the state senate, and another three years--or three years, really now four--hes been in the US senate. I dont mean to split hairs on this, but it hasnt been 20 years.
And furthermore, truth be told, there are some things that Pastor Wright has said that are absolutely true. Now, you may not like how he said it, and whenever your metaphor overwhelms what you have to say, that can be problematic. But there are a number of African Americans in this country who affirm the ministry of Pastor Wright.
Can you give an example of something Wright said that was blown up by the news media?
This whole G.D. America piece, thats a great example. First of all, right after he says that, the next sentence, which they never play, says, And thats in the Bible. Now, its not written that way in English, but the Hebraic expression basically says this: if America makes itself and views itself as God, and not Yahweh, or the Lord God Almighty as God, then America basically is committing adultery, and then America is darning itself.

That's a reasonable response, however Corbin whatever his name is made a really stupid response about Methodists.
Great minds and all that! I promised Zo I would get him the attention he deserves. So far he’s gotten a post about him on three fairly major blogs that I frequent and I’m still trying....
I’m hoping to get him some notice on RedEye where I think he’d fit right in.
Any "church" that belongs to the National Council of Churches (NCC) is anti-American.
Where do these black preachers come from? Do they just one day wake up and pronounce themselves a "Reverand" put on a collar, rent a building and collect money?
It seems that what this "methodist" preacher has done as well. He seems totally blind to the teachings of the gospel of Christ, and how Wrights racist rants are in complete opposition to it.
He would fit in on Redeye. If he didn’t take it over.
Here is how he describes his relationship as a “spiritual advisor”:
“ How often have you been in touch during his second term? Eight or nine times a year?. I typically call him. He seldom calls me”
Sounds like just another hustler to me!
Mr. Obama recalled the opening lines of the Arabic call to
prayer, reciting them with a first-rate accent. In a remark that
seemed delightfully uncalculated [...], Mr. Obama described the
call to prayer as "one of the prettiest sounds on Earth at
sunset."

“He seems totally blind to the teachings of the gospel of Christ,...”
This is nothing particularly noteworthy amongst the mega-preacher set. Look at the most popular of the “Christian” preachers today and ask yourself how well they mirror the teachings of Jesus.
I just dropped his vid on The Activity Pit, for all the RedEye fans to see. The show’s crew is on there a lot and I hope they pick up on it.

Slight correction, I believe he is a Pastor in the even more liberal United Church of Christ.
Hey that’s great. If their fans respond well to it, and I bet they will, they will probably look into it. I’ve never been to the Redeye website. I might have to check that out now that you threw up a link.
Complete total garbage. No wonder President Jorge acts the way he does sometimes.
Bill Cosby???
Not only that. o-Hussein-b and michelle "la-bell" robinson let this racist marry them. Then their off-springs were baptized by him!!!
Hmmmm???
That there's a huge contingent of liberalism in the UM. There's also a very strong contingent fighting against that.
Not according to the article.
If that is true then your first comment about United Methodist, enough said would seem to be overkill.
I included that because there are those who would say the UM is completely lost to socialism. It’s not. There’s an uphill battle, but it is being waged.
(and no, I’m not UM)
I am an ordained elder in the United Methodist Church. I was ordained in 1983 and have served continuously since that time. I am also a retired active duty Army Chaplain; I served as a United Methodist. I attended Asbury Seminary, from which I received my MDiv, and I have an additional masters degree from Kansas State University.
I have been on Free Republic for a long time, since 1998, and I can hardly be described as a liberal.
Our denomination is NOT the most liberal of the mainline denominations, and if the truth be known, it is more moderate to conservative than any of the other mainlines...the Southern Baptists have seldom been included as mainline protestant.
The PCUSA, LCA, ECUSA, UCC...all the traditional mainlines are more liberal than we are.
At our just concluded 4 year General Conference, the ONLY official voice of the UMC, we made our statement on the sanctity of life STRICTER and not more lenient. We made our statement on homosexuality STRICTER and not more lenient.
Anyone familiar with our denomination knows that the conservative to moderate element of our ministers outvotes the liberal element by 65% to 35%. They know that the bulk of our people, about 85% are conservative to moderate and not liberal.
George Bush is a far better conservative example of an average United Methodist than is this pastor in Washington DC.
Do we have a large and radical element in the church that we have been fighting for decades? Yep. No doubt about it. But, they are slowly losing and we are slowly winning. It is slow going because of the nature of our church government. The General Conference meets only once every four years and that for only 10 days.
Change happens EXTREMELY SLOWLY in the UMC.
Ah yes the mysterious they! They say blah blah.
You need to read post 39 by the Methodist Minister.
By the way there are those that would say that the above comment by you is without merit.
