George's [Stephanopoulos's]Bottom Line on Clinton for Veep
ABC News ^ | May 7, 2008

Posted on 05/07/2008 6:15:19 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

Is Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., staying in the race to get the vice presidential slot?

George thinks so.

Clinton vowed to fight on today, despite a growing chorus that says Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., has just about wrapped up the Democratic presidential nominaton.

ABC's chief Washington correspondent George Stephanopoulos told Charles Gibson on "World News" that Clinton is staying in the race to negotiate a spot on the Democratic ticket in November.

CHARLES GIBSON: George, she puts on a brave face in public. What's going on behind the scenes?

GEORGE STEPHANOPOULOS: Well, I think it's fair to say ... that everyone's waiting for a signal from her on how to go forward. Today, the signal was very clear — we're staying in — [according to] the Clinton campaign. And it's based on the hope that anything can happen. And that every Democrat deserves a vote. That's the principal they're running on right now. The arguments against, inside right now, are you may be spending a lot more money in [a] futile effort. You may also be dividing the party the longer you go on. You heard (California Sen.) Dianne Feinstein say that as well, but the math just doesn't work.

CHARLES GIBSON: So, George, if and when the time comes that she decides to get out, who is going to be in that inner circle with her making the decisions?

GEORGE STEPHANOPOULOS: It is a very small group, Charlie. Of course, President Clinton and Chelsea will be there. Likely, Maggie Williams, her chief of staff, and Cheryl Mills, who is a close advisor and also was a lawyer for President Clinton during [his] impeachment. Terry McAuliffe, the chairman of the campaign, will be there to advise on the money as well, but this is going to be a small group. Everyone knows the decision ultimately is hers. Those close to her also say, however, that she is very realistic about this, she is not delusional.

CHARLES GIBSON: Is there any discussion of what kind of an exit strategy there would be?

GEORGE STEPHANOPOULOS: There are various exit strategies right now. Number one would be, go out on a win. So, stay in until West Virginia, where Sen. Clinton is likely the winner, and Kentucky on May 20, and after that, bow out. Two, negotiate for the imposition of Michigan and Florida, to get those delegations seated, declare victory on that, and get out. But the big one, Charlie — and this is what some people close to the Clintons are talking about: Is there a way to negotiate a settlement with Barack Obama to have Sen. Clinton on the ticket?

CHARLES GIBSON: And what do they think?

GEORGE STEPHANOPOULOS: It's hard to know. I mean, first of all, would Sen. Obama go for it? Can he get over the bitterness of this campaign? Can he be convinced that it's the strongest ticket? Third, of course, would Sen. Clinton take it? I think if it was offered in the right way, yes.

They already suggested on TV that Obama would need a food taster.

He'd be a fool to offer it to her.

Because you think she's have him knocked off?

Obama should refuse to have her on the ticket just on the principal, let alone that he might be putting his safety on the line. For starters, Obama shouldn’t put her on the ticket for her posturing that she is willing to cheat to steal the nomination from him. Obama is very well aware of all of Hillary’s dirty trick playing and how she is threatening to steal the nomination. Plus her little stunt to seat the delegates from Michigan and Florida, when the witch already knows she won both states is a little disgusting. Obama wasn’t even on the ballot in Michigan and he didn’t campaing in Florida like they agreed not to. Hillary ignored the aggreement, so of course she won. Obama shouldn’t put her on the ticket on just this issue alone. And that’s ignoring Arkancide! Obama would be a fool, that’s for sure!

If he did, his life insurance premiums would go through the roof.

Where’s the “Change” if Obama picks Clinton for VP? That’s laughable.

Huma, she’s still there; I saw a glimpse of her on a news clip of Hillary campaigning in Indiana. The press doesn’t seem to focus on her much.

the October surprise Hillary promised

She did? When? I'd think the surprise would be Huma's uncles in Riyadh (she has many of them, owing to poligamy which is legal there, as it should be in any civilized country) lowering the price of oil just as a favor to Huma's lover.

This entire George S crap is a Clinton Dem Media generated trial balloon and a way for ABC to boost poor ratings. There are four camps here , Hillary, Hillary's controlled media, Obama , and Obama’s controlled media and there trying to find a way to settle the issue so they can jointly go out and destroy MCCain and make America a socialist hell hole. Sadly, Drudge appears to be part of the Obama media now !

Hillary as VP would energize the Democrats, but Obama would lose all credibility. His new slogan would have to be “Change you CAN’T Believe In.”

george must have been sniffing glue again.

He still can't get over the fact that it was his office where Monica first showed thong to Bubba.

I'm fairly certain that Barry O hates the Witch for causing him this much pain so far. He's got to get someone with real experience to balance his inexperience on the ticket. Richardson would do, but my guess is that he's going to do a Dukakis and get somebody fairly senior on the ticket.

He'd do well with Biden.

Suppose she took VP; Obama could get two terms before HRC got another chance by which time she’d be pushing 70.

Obama would be nuts to have her as his VP. She’d be undermining him every step of the way.

He would have to determine which would be less damaging, Hillary on the ticket or a 9.0 earthquake at the dem convention in Denver.

I think they have to do it simply to combine their votes. Together, they can beat McCain, separately, I don't think so. Their bases are too focused.

The problem is that it is too radical a ticket.

It would unite the GOP and most independents against it.

Moreover, I don't think the white rural voters are going to vote for Obama, no matter who the VP is.

Finally, having Hillary on the ticket takes away Obama's main theme, running as an outsider.

If Obama needed to make a deal with Hillary, it might happen, but now, he doesn't need to.

She can run all she wants she can't catch him.

Cold, callous and calculated. Not delusional. Got it.

Well, Its definitely NOT a wise career move (or a long job assignment).....
the bright side is; let the NYT/WaPo/ABCNNBcBS/pBS liberal sycophants, "serve" as the first set of food tasters.....and finally, get rid of "the vermin"
