New details have emerged in the search for missing 19-year-old Middlebury College freshman Nicholas Garza that could link him to the so-called "Smiley Face Gang," which a group of retired detectives believes is responsible for the apparent drowning deaths of dozens of young men across the country.
Searchers have found smiley-face graffiti near Garza's campus like that painted near some of the locations where about 40 bodies have been discovered across 11 states, FOX 44 News reported. Garzas mother thinks that discovery could link her son's disappearance to the deaths of the other mostly college-age victims.
Volunteer searchers have come forward with pictures of the smiley face, found on a utility shed door a short distance from downtown Middlebury, Vt. The photos were taken a week-and-a-half ago, when the group was scouring a river bank for clues.

Officers have been searching the water for Garza after an airplane captured a picture of what appeared to be a body several weeks ago.

I wonder if the students have a similar appearance.
Is this a new ‘smiley face’ murder or is it the same one that was posted here a few days ago?
this is the only link I know about from 4/28

Yep, that was the happy looking smiley face pic I was thinking of.
Has anyone seen information on the victims(?)sexual orientation?
I’d guess that the killers are gay. I haven’t heard a word about the young men.
It doesn't appear they are. They seem to disappear very late at night, usually when they are alone, drunk and on foot - usually after leaving a bar.
Smiley face killer ping.
It is unfortunate, though I suppose inevitable, that people would speculate about that.

I’m not at all convinced these cases are related and the “smiley face” killer may be the product of some very overactive imaginations.
Thanks.
Told them so! Told them so! :(
I am intimately involved with this “case”, and I can tell you it is 100% pure unadulterated nonsense bullshit, made up invented crap from the minds of some VERY stupid people. There is not even the tiniest shred of truth in any of it.
Nick Garza’s body was found yesterday. He was one of my nephew’s best friends and was by all accounts a fine young man.
Given that he led such an upstanding life, I highly doubt that his death was caused by poor decisions or bad behavior on his part. Foul play would not surprise me, although this “smiley face” business sounds like a reach.
