Gary Mayor Predicts Possible Indiana Shocker
Washington Post ^ | 5-6-08 | Alec MacGillis

Posted on 05/06/2008 8:08:18 PM PDT by rdl6989

As the fate of a nailbiter Indiana primary -- and possibly the course of the Democratic race -- hung on his city, Gary Mayor Rudy Clay said just now that it might take a while yet to finish counting the vote in Lake County, which includes Gary, and said that his city had turned out so overwhelmingly for Barack Obama that it might just be enough to close the gap with Hillary Rodham Clinton.

"Let me tell you, when all the votes are counted, when Gary comes in, I think you're looking at something for the word to see," Clay, an Obama supporter, said in a telephone interview from Obama's Gary headquarters. "I don't know what the numbers are yet, but Gary has absolutely produced in large numbers for Obama here."

Clay said the results were late coming in from Lake County because of the large numbers of absentee ballots that had to be counted -- about 11,000. Under local practice, all of the cartridges from voting machines in Gary and nearby East Chicago are first collected at the local airport before being driven to the county headquarters to be tallied with the results from the rest of the county, he said. He said there were major technical problems holding up the count.

"It takes a little time. We want to be sure that every vote is counted fair and right," he said. "I just talked to the director out there and they are working like junkyard dogs to get that done as soon as possible. They are taking some time but I told them to do it right. That's what taking the time."

Chaos indeed, does anyone seriously think that Hilde would have had a prayer in IN without Rush’s call to Chaos?

40,000 votes or so right now seperate Obama from knifing Hilde, there were 100,000 Repubs who voted Dhimmicrat, even with lukewarm Repubs shifting to Dhimmi, no way all 100,000 would have without Rush’s nudging.

So Rev. Wright was correct - Barry is just an ordinary politician after all.

Not true - if BO wins in Indiana, it’s proof he can win a state without a caucus and/or a huge black population. It’d be a symbolic victory that would sew the little Marxist thug up the Democrat nomination.

Voter fraud is too high a price to pay to get rid of Hillary - he’s actually worse.

Hopefully, after the 2008 Presidential elections are over, we can once and for all end all open primaries. For both Parties.

food fight!!

Lanny Davis and David Gergen going at it....

..... aw too bad, Gergen backed off with just a few more weasel words about what low life Lanny Davis proves to be

oh, and Lanny Davis is trying to pretend that the Clintonistas are “delighted” with tonight’s results and that he is truly “happy” tonight — what a LIAR!!!! Shrillary needed thumping wins in both states and didn’t get that — her campaign is on fumes now.

Smells dirty to me.

You can usually smell Gary before you see it, literally.

And I thought the GOP was supposed to be the party of corruption.

It is also the party of racism and white-male homophobia. So please ignore 70% of what has been going on in the democratic primary this year.

In NC, unaffiliated is the fastest growing political group, to toss them overboard is to guarantee a loss in NC airborne, the political parties have behaved THAT badly here.

Not true - if BO wins in Indiana, it’s proof he can win a state without a caucus and/or a huge black population.

Obama already proved that when he won Wisconsin some time ago. Indiana's racial demographics are very similar to Wisconsin's (Wisconsin is 90% white, while Indiana is 88% white), so -- all other things being equal -- I would expect the results to be somewhat similar.

Amazing...it’s like everything we have known about the Dims is being exposed for all to see in this primary.

You’re right. But, a side by side comparison of the two, will make plain that the hildebeast is the lesser of the two evils. McManiac is only a few steps better, if that.

If obama becomes POTUS, we’ll be redefining the meaning of terrorist.

See my post, # 40,above. I thought I may have misinterpreted Beckel. He basically related a story of a federal crime committed by a corrupt democratic mayor and he was absolutely nonchalant about it.

Beckel's attitude about voter fraud and criminal conduct was very revealing and is common among democrats. They shrug it off like it is no big deal.

My apologies for missing that. I don't think you misinterpreted him. Not only did Beckel not seem to see the incident as a crime, it sounded to me as though he actually thought it quite funny.

What gets me is “the region” party hacks are so blatant about it. I think Beckel said tonight that they could have had those 11,000 absentees counted early if they wanted to. Someone please correct me if I’m wrong about that.

Indiana’s Voter ID Law is a HUGE step in the right direction, but absentee ballots are still a HUGE LOOPHOLE that the Democrat-controlled house is unlikely to even dare to touch.
