This arrangement of the "Battle Hymn of the Republic" is performed by four high school choirs, plus a choir of elementary school children. A band accompanies the choirs, and the accompanying web graphics are beautifully done.
The web site host, GreatDanePro, says, "I found the arrangement deeply moving. The little kids get the first verse to themselves, then the high schoolers join in."
Click on the link to hear the childrens' choirs giving it all they've got!
You DO realize the ACLU could be lurking on this forum? (F*** em!)
On the upside, I’m glad that not all references to J****, G**, and C********ity have been eliminated from the public skrools.
For your listening pleasure ping.
A most beautiful rendition.
That is Great, AW!! Thanks for the ping.
When I sang in a high school choir in the 1960's, we performed mostly sacred music. How times have changed!
By the way, I was in a combined choir that performed "The Battle Hymn of the Republic" as the finale of a concert given by a combined choir from Department of Defense Dependent Schools in Frankfurt, Germany, in May, 1966--and we sang the original, politically incorrect words.
As I remember, the arranger of this version, Peter Wilhowski, was a public school choral instructor in New York City, where it was first performed. I want to say late 1940s or early 1950s? Someone out there probably knows.
Great performance at the link. Thanks very much for posting. By the way, I've noticed that whenever the "Battle Hymn" is performed for Pres. Bushwhich occurs frequently, and always with this arrangementthe text is always, "Let us die to make men free." Our CIC doesn't fool around.
From one having sung in award-winning choirs, this was gorgeous!

Absolutely beautiful.
Thanks for posting, Albion ... am so glad others are enjoying as much as I.
Almost enough to bring a lump to this ol' East Texas country boy's throat. Sounded as though they were singing their little hearts out.
Great find!
Excellent update of the orignal Wilhousky arrangement done for Fred Waring and his orchestra sixty years ago......
Such a beautiful and inspirational rendition, but better have a box of tissues at hand. Be sure to turn up the sound.
Thank you so much for the ping!
It looks like Major Gen. Patrick Cleburne was right all along.
Truly awe inspiring, a beautiful rendition.... and a significant sign of hope.
That today a school district still exists where four high school choirs, plus an elementary school choir can collaborate to make it happen in a public performance.
God bless America, and all our brave heroes who defend her.
THANK YOU!!
I’m 50 and my generation was probably the first to start singing that again down south in school when I was a boy.
Those kids did great.
I have one in public school here in Nashville and they actually do the pledge and say under God and sing some national songs too.
no Lords Prayer or Christmas cards like we did....no Halloween or Valentines Day either...strange
bttt
Thanks for the ping!
Our schools here in Atlanta, Texas have such a program every year. This old veteran wouldn't miss it for the world -- especially since my granddaughters are given the honor of presenting me with a flag and a certificate of appreciation (and big hugs) as part of the ceremony...
Thanks for your post. See post 13....
