King is a hack author, who wouldn’t amount to a pimple on the butt of H.P. Lovecraft.

Ah, I forgot about “The Shining”. That was a good flick, too. Maybe Kubrick should have done all of the Stephen King movies. Of course, having Jack Nicholson in the lead didn’t hurt, either.

What's hilarious is that King has always derrided Kubrick's version of The Shining. To me, that just shows how delusional and void of artistic vision King is. His TV version is, in King's estimation, the superior version.

Yeesh. Jack was great, as was Scatman Crothers.

I had enough when with SKs book “Insomnia.” His depiction of prolifers as slack jawed murderous idiots shows he is totally disconnected from reality.

His books were never anything more that mental junk food.

Looks like Stephen King is a coward who is running from the discussion.

Why would he give books to people he thinks can't read?

Ding... ding... ding... we have a winner!

The man is utterly obsessed with toilet matters.

I noticed this, too. He also seems to enjoy has his characters masturbate, and I was completely shocked how he had the characters in "It", while still children, have sexual intercourse with each other as a bonding ritual after dispensing with the monster. Disgusting.

Dang.

Since 2001, I’ve traveled up the eastern seaboard and halfway across the country to meet friends I got to know on a SK website. (His publisher’s site, not his personal site listed here.) I wouldn’t even be here on THIS site without having first made friends there.

At each of our meetings, we’d have a book signing, just us folks. I always made it a point to have that year’s new SK book signed by my friends - means more to me than, as you say, one signed by him.

I’m sorry yours was lost, Tennesseee_Bob. I’m kinda mourning my own collection sitting here on the shelves, for it’s lost all value to me EXCEPT for the ones my friends signed.

Stupid me, reading IT on the way to bootcamp until it got too dark to read. Pish, who am I kidding? I put it down cauze it dint have no pichers. Sides, mah faingers waz sore from draggin on the flore. Hurt em too much to read.

King has refused to sign anything sent to him thru the mail. I have a photo of him and George Romero that Romero signed, and he suggested that I send it to King for him to sign also.

Got back a form letter saying King no longers signs things in the mail.

“The Stand” - wife says the book is better than the movie.

Just saw “The Mist” - not a bad movie but the ending was horrible and stupid.

Liked John Carpenter’s “The Fog” a lot more.

Best thing about “Creepshow” was that Adrienne Barbeau got her just rewards in the first one with Hal Holbrook.

Let’s just ignore the little-minded Kinglet. Go back to the old Alfred Hitchok thrillers and tv shows. They will always entertain you, with style.

Interestingly The Shawshank Redemption and Stand By Me were both novellas. I didn’t like The Shining or Pet Sematary. I haven’t bothered to see anything else. The reason that most of King’s books, especially the later ones, don’t translate well into movies is that a lot of them depend on seeing things from the character’s point of view and his interior mental dialogue. That’s not easy to do in a movie. How can you see what a person is thinking? Because of this the hysterically funny aspects of his stories don’t get transferred to the screen. I think The Talisman will probably turn out to be a good film or miniseries.

I brought along a copy of Natan Sharansky’s “Case For Democracy” on my last deployment. It was awesome and I had my wife send me his “Fear No Evil.”

I had no time for Stephan King...
