The U.S.-planned missile shield in Europe, including on Czech soil, enjoys majority support in the U.S. Congress though certain doubts persist on the part of some Democrat congresspeople, Bud Cramer, himself a Democrat member of the House of Representatives, told CTK in Prague Monday.
If a candidate of the opposition Democrats became the next U.S. president, it would change nothing in the missile defence plans of the current U.S. Administration of George W.Bush, a Republican, Cramer said.
If a Democrat won the the presidential elections later this year, it would turn out that the missile defence plan had reached the point of no return, Cramer said.
He said the Congress inclines to support missile defence that would include a U.S. radar base in the Czech Republic. Nevertheless, there are some Democrats who still doubt certain aspects of the project and maybe the project as a whole, and they also doubt whether the USA should spend money on it, Cramer said.

Don’t tell Obama, he is determined to throw the US under the bus!
The reason why the Democrats are now having to try and reassure our allies on this is because within the last few days, Obama declared that if (God forbid) he got elected President, he would look to slow down and scale back the development of combat systems, including the missile defense system.
LOL
This is so history at this point. Much of the ground work (agreements, planning, funding) was done as far back as 2000-2003, but it’s just now getting in the news because spades are touching ground.
Precisely!
Another evil Bush administration plan that all Americans hate him for because there are Mexicans.
Yep, Obama did say that.
This denial is inoperative. The Democrats have demonstrated for 20 years that they understand outright killing a purely defensive programme is a political loser.
Their policy instead has been delay and denial of deployment, hoping to stall the programme long enough that offensive technology can surpass it and then render the programme impotent and, therefore, unthreatening to the global community bien pensants who currently oppose it.
When a Democrat says “further testing and development” he means “keep testing until no one cares whether or not it works.”
The heck they won’t.
Hmm...the Iranian Shahab programs plus a “peaceful” nuclear warhead or two...suddenly a missile defense program doesn’t look so provocative anymore...
