Maybe this would have helped back in 2001 to 2007 when you know, the GOP could actually pass such legislation. Why even bother introducing it now when you know it has no chance of passing?

I like the idea of opening up domestic production but the coal mandate is a bad idea. The biofuels fiasco should be a lesson in that regard- coal-derived fuels will be produced if and when they become profitable.

This is the PERFECT time for this legislation. The Rats will have to take a stand, and their ‘green’ energy mandates and gas tax holidays will look like the frauds they are to the average voter. Along with the food riots and global warming fraud exposing the liberal/marxist follies, the people should stand up and demand the political elites pass this bill.

With the Democrat Congress, this'll go over like a fart in an elevator.

I have many problems with Domenici, but this is at least a start.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but they offered it several times...each time it was filibustered by libs and RINOs (same thing).

It's an election year. So they can nail the Democrats for the gigh price of fuel and having no plans to do anything about it.

It would be nice though if the Democrats actually thought about America first for once rather than the Democrat Party first.

Any “mandate” from on high is a bad idea when it comes to the production and distribution of a product.

They need to simply get the heck out of the way, and perhaps minimally make sure that someone isn’t pumping toxic waste all over the place while they are drilling.

We’d have all the oil product we wanted at very good prices if the market were allowed to do what it does.

At least there’ll be something on the table. People don’t want to hear “NO” when it comes to domestic oil production, and they’re payin’ $4 a gallon to get to work.........

“This will be fought tooth and nail by the Rats and their envio-buddies.”

Agree. I do think this may be a great campaign issue for all Republican candidates. It will show that Republicans are trying to lower gas prices and Dems are preventing it.

...each time it was filibustered by libs and RINOs (same thing).

How come Reagan never used this excuse? He was able to get legislation passed by a hostile Congress on many occasions. If the GOP really wanted to push through this bill, it could have.

Please don't take this as a personal attack... I'm angry with the GOP for acting like socialists for the past 7 years instead of doing things the country needed during that time.

I remember the "Gored at the pump" ads back in 2000. I don't think they were terribly effective.

This is a great move!

I hope one day we will be able to develop our resources, but we know the dems will vote it down right now.

And come election, they will be stuck with their vote against America.
