S243 THE GLOBAL POVERTY ACT A THREAT TO 2ND AMENDMENT RIGHT TO BEAR ARMS; sponsored by OBAMA
Newsmax ^ | 5/4/08 | Kackikat

Posted on 05/04/2008 3:03:05 PM PDT by Kackikat

WorldNetDaily.com quotes Cliff Kincaid of Accuracy in Media as saying:

"The bill defines the term 'Millennium Development Goals' as the goals set out in the United Nations Millennium Declaration..."

"In addition to seeking to eradicate poverty, that declaration commits nations to banning 'small arms and light weapons' and ratifying a series of treaties, including the International Criminal Court Treaty, the Kyoto Protocol (global warming treaty), the Convention on Biological Diversity, the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women, and the Convention on the Rights of the Child."

This is a “Boy who Cried Wolf” report that circulates every month or so. What bothers me is that there are many real wolves out there, including from Obama. This stuff hurts the credibility of organizations when there really is a wolf.

The bible says: “The Poor Will ALWAYS be with you, Help them WHEN YOU CAN!”

Our nation already does more than its’ share. This is yet another way to bring the US to its’ knees and raise the third world up.

I think we should just limit it to feeding and getting healthcare to America’s children by 2015. That would be a goal we could accomplish and would benefit our ability to offer the same to the children of the world in the following years.

One step at a time.

Thanks for info, and I accidently erased the extra 3. As for do nothing, it will cost 845 BILLION dollars for us as taxpayers.
NEWSMAX is usually very good with info, and I just inserted a quote from their website about the gun info. I went to read bill, which I should have done myself prior to post. There were some changes to bill recently as it now ends with RS instead of IS, but you are right so far. I’m going to contact Newsmax about this.

You're right on the spending part, and I oppose the bill on that grounds.

It wasn't Newsmax. I apologize on that. I first heard this (as global tax) from "center for individual freedom" instead.

Here is what Ron Paul has on his website DAILY PAUL:

Obama’s Global Poverty Act -S2433 includes a “phase” called “Millennium Development Goals” that were given the nod by Clinton at the United Nations Millennium Assembly and Summit 2000.

Goals include: UN “army”, UN “register of ALL small arms (yea, guns), UN “PEACE EDUCATION: PRESCHOOL-COLLEGE”, (social engineering, indoctrination), UN “Control of Global ECONOMY”

Please go to Ron Pauls website DAILY PAUL and read what he has to say. I posted it on this thread, but there’s another place to go, it has to do with Millenium Development Goals.

I voted for Ron Paul in the primary, and I know what he's getting at here. That said, I always defer to primary sources over secondary sources which is someone's interpretation of the primary source.

The UN's Millennium Development goals are a global tax and small arm ban by civillians. That's not in dispute. This bill addresses the poverty aspect ($$$) of that program. Because this bill deals with an aspect of an organization that also deals with taxes and gun grabs, this bill by association becomes a "gun control" bill or a "global tax" bill and now gets a lot of heat because it is proposed by a presidential candidate. It's an embellishment, and that's my problem with this report. That's why I prefer sticking with thomas.

I'm trying to calm the fires a bit here and to clarify things. This is a bad spending spill and helps a bad organization. I oppose it, but I'd rather deal with things that Obama can get nailed on easily, like his handgun ban questionaire to politico, and his vote to ban almost all rifle centerfire ammunition in 2005.

I consider anything the UN has hands in as a bad bill. I appreciate what you are doing, but if in any way there is a “hidden agenda” as Ron Paul puts it, then it needs to be exposed. I don’t want us to sign up for 845 billion more taxes, and the UN has no right to ask us to do that, as we are most generous to the poor around the world. Most of that money ends up in hands of the handlers and not the people anyway. The poverty goes on and we are stuck supportering a bunch of crooks.
That said, if there is anything to do with guns it should stopped. There are nations who do not have guns, and there are other bills coming up to make us a socialist nation like them, which raises that same question again. There is a water bill, for govt to take control which is again another takeover of our rights.

Ron Paul’s article says it is hidden agenda in the Millenium Development Goals. It is evidently not written in the actual Bill S2433, but imbeded vaguely into the 2000 UN MDG meeting agreement. I believe it will be defeated if enough people call, write, email their Senators.

S243 is S2433, I accidently erased a 3 when fixing my title..lol sorry. It’s the Millinium Development Goals that have imbeded the nations civilian gun and small arms info. I have read it on several websites, but the actual Bill just refers to US mandating the MDG part, without spelling it out. Always hiding stuff. Some say it won’t cause gun control, but I will keep researching to make sure.
