Illegal immigrants not only harm the environment, but keep our law enforcement/DNR Agencies busy. Jim Robinson is a hero and we all owe him a lot. Illegal immigration effects us all including rural midwest farm country.

"... tying fishing lines to empty beer cans, then dragging the cans with the catch to shore." Kudos to anyone who can 'splain this. Trout like beer? 'Sup?

Beer can trout fishing? Hmm, I wonder where these foreign folks learned that method? Must be those crazy Norwegians.

I suspect the empty beer cans were being used as floats, with multiple lines hanging below. That way one can lie back and wait for a can to move.
Sort of like a tiny version of the barrels in Jaws. "He can't go down with three Bud cans on him."

Sounds like they were using trot lines instead of a single hook and line.

Mine too! Nobody ever accused these illegals of being dumb - just illegal. Catching trout with beer cans shows signs of higher intelligence.
Ain't diversity wonderful.....?

Very few Americans know the seriousness of fishing laws: one can have their vehicle confiscated and auctioned off for catching and keeping one fish that is of an illegal size.
These guys were illegals and had no idea what they were doing was illegal. They’ll be deported for this, while illegals that feed themselves by robbing and killing people will be put back out on the street.

Three men have been arrested and charged with 27 fishing violations after using beer cans to catch trout from a northeastern Iowa creek. Im bumping this one until somebody explains beer can fishing.<<<

Ah. Handy floats to keep the trot line up.
Clever.

Give a man a fish and he’ll eat for a day. Teach a man to fish, and he will sit in a boat and drink beer.

I laid out a 30 hook trot line one night to lay in a creek on the edge of the sound. As I was baiting it up the marsh coons would steal from one end while I was at the other. Between untangling the mess they made and having all the bait stolen by crabs overnight I don’t think I’ll ever try one that long again.
