As far as John McCain is concerned, the Republican presidential nomination is a done deal and the party is united behind him. But thousands of Republicans -- particularly supporters of Texas Rep. Ron Paul -- aren't buying that.
In the Pennsylvania primary, more than 215,000 Republicans cast ballots for Paul or former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, who together captured 27% of the vote.
And that was tame compared with the uproar last weekend at Nevada's Republican Party Convention.
About 600 well-organized Paul supporters overwhelmed McCain's forces and engineered a rule change that permitted national convention delegates to be nominated from the floor, wresting the task from party leaders.

Bottom line, L Ron Paul and Obama’s pastor Rev. Wrong have several of the same talking points. No wonder these Useful Idiots don’t care of Obama wins.

I do not believe that your strategy will work, at least not among my libertarian FRiends here. You will find them exactly as hard to 'slap down' as the socons and the Reaganites.
Anecdotal though my evidence is, most of the libertarians I know won’t vote for anyone they consider authoritarian-leaning, so that rules out dems.

Why don’t the Ron Paul supporters just come out and be honest with everyone, and introduce their ‘Draft William McKinley’ motion?

They can’t effect the election, too many delegates are required to vote as designated.
But there is a concern that they could vote resolutions off the floor, so it’s important for each state to pay attention to who is being chosen as delegates. We are choosing delegates in Virginia now, and for the ones I vote for, the FIRST question I’m asking is if they were Ron Paul supporters — and they are NOT getting my vote.
Clinton, Obama and McCain — the three stooges. Each worse than the others. I received my ballot today (we have mail-in voting) and I also voted for Paul. He may not win but I couldn’t in good conscience vote for McCain.

We are conservatives. They are not one and the same.
Paul is like that crazy aunt who seems to make sense as she talks, but then suddenly looks up at you and says, “Did you ever dream you have claws?”
I was watching him sounding perfectly reasonable in some interview when out of the blue he started badmouthing Lincoln. Apparently Lincoln didn't need to fight the Civil war to end slavery, according to Mr. Paul. After all the British didn't need to fight a war to end slavery. (actually that depends, do the Opium wars count? Oh, but that was fighting FOR slavery of a kind) It was horrendous politics (next he's going after apple pie) but abysmal history on about 3 or 4 counts that I came with in about 10 seconds. Not the least of which being Lincoln didn't run on ending slavery in 1860, just on stopping it's westward expansion. It was the South that decided those were fighting words.
Then there's the whole Iran thing, Paul can't believe we're talking about bombing Iran and frankly neither can I. What has Iran done to us except, take our embassy, bomb our Marines, hold Americans hostage, provide weapons to kill our people in Iraq, threaten to wipe our best ally in the Middle East off the map, chant Death to America for like 30 straight years, and generally try to be a pain in our ass and thorn in our side every step of the way for like 3 decades now. My questions is why are we just talking about bombing Iran? Let's do it already.
Ron thinks the constitution doesn't allow that, because it's like a suicide pact. My suggestion to Ron and his followers is that they give up the ghost on this whole Presidential thing, forget the convention and just buy some land in Guyana, that way Ron can be emperor for a short while as the cool aid is being passed around.
Or perhaps I'm too harsh.
Many RP supporters throughout the U.S. will eventually vote for Bob Barr, if Barr wins the Libertarian Party nomination for POTUS.
