Why is california like a bowl of granola?

Because after you remove all the fruits and nuts there’s nothing but flakes left.

I am constantly amazed at the ignorance and yes, sophomoric attitude many FReepers have about California. Do we have our share of lefties? More so than most. Do they get most of the spotlight? When they own hollywood and the media in LA and San Francisco, that goes without saying.

Every state has it’s share of “fruits and nuts”, none are exempt.

But outside the coastal “beltway” in CA much of the state is fairly conservative, including the southern counties of Orange and San Diego. People forget that Jim Robinson lives in FRESNO CA and that is where Free Republic was created. LA was where the FIRST FR activism chapter was created. It was where the concept of the FR Network was generated. The March for Justice and the other original DC rallies that put FR on the map were planned there. If CA is the land of fruits and nuts and when you remove that all you have is flakes, how did it gestate FR?

Hmmm?

Anyway, I’m going to tweak a few beaks right now but that’s too bad. There are a lot of CA haters out there who get a weird satisfaction or thrill denigrating the state and it’s citizens. You can almost see the self saisfied gleam in their eyes and smug condescension when they post. Let me give you a clue.

Nobody in CA cares what you think. In fact, when your posts are read most Californians silently think to themselves “what an ignorant buffoon” and disregard your natterings as they would if they came from a child.

So my suggestion to those of you who get a “tingle” from making broad generalizations about all of CA based on the miscreants in hollywood or San Francisco...grow up.

With that, he pointed his finger in my face and announced, with eyes blazing and spittle flying in my direction, “You’re George Bush!”

We may have whackjobs for politicians but I love our state. Like SF Republican said (are you the only one in S.F?) our climate is great. I look out my windows in downtown Sacramento and it is nice and cool. When I get up to my house in the foothills it’s bright and cool and clean. Lake Tahoe is an hour drive from my house while the bay area is only 2 hours from my house. Everything I need is here.

I’ve been all over this country but can’t imagine living anywhere else. In fact, the weather was so mild this winter that I never put the hardtop on my car. It’s nice having the top down in January!!!

Granted, we’ll have 110 degree days during the summer but it’s the dry heat...

One caveat, the sprawl is making its way up hwy 50 to my area.

Oh yeah, it’s horrible here, don’t ever think of moving here :)

As a former Californian who grew up around these kind of people, I can relate totally. That place was nuts, as well as the people it attracted.

From article: Two interesting things then took place. First my jaw hit the floor. Next, the writer who had been seated between us for the entire lunch turned to glower at me, and said, “You’re really a conservative?”

As soon as I admitted I was, he got up and walked away so quickly, you might have thought I’d acknowledged being a leper.

Yep, fairly typical, intolerant behavior by liberals. Been there, over and over and over again. What's really revealing is when family members treat you this way while they scream and natter about how YOU should be treating them with tolerance. And bosses and coworkers set you up so you can now be let go, fired, laid-off, and JUST because you are different-not-deficient from "themselves".
