WASHINGTON (AFP) - CIA chief Michael Hayden charged Wednesday that China was beefing up its military with "remarkable speed and scope," calling the buildup "troubling."

The Chinese, he said, had fully absorbed the lessons of both Gulf wars, developing and integrating advanced weaponry into a modern military force.

Hayden said while Beijing's new capabilities could pose a risk to US forces and interests in the region, the military modernization was as much about projecting strength as anything else.

“CIA chief Michael Hayden charged Wednesday that China was beefing up its military with “remarkable speed and scope,” calling the buildup “troubling.”

This guy Hayden is not very smart that it took him this long to realize it. Where does he think the money for the military expansion comes from.

Hey Hayden, where are your shirts, underwear, socks and perhaps even your shoes and slacks made? Where are your kids’ leaded toys made? Who do you think paid for China’s future military might? All of us did.

I might have a little more confidence in our intelligence if they understood and used proper terminology. I do not acknowledge any state referred to as China. China is a geographic designation on a map. China as a state or political entity is either Communist China or Red China.

They’re not building up for defense. No one has considered attacking them for a long time.
