That’s good to hear.
If we have Bud Day out there telling his stories and the Democrats have Reverend Wright out there telling his stories, we could be in for a fun autumn. Not because McCain is all that great, but because DUer’s are fun to watch when they are losing.

I just now learned that Barry's full name is 'Barrack Hussein Muhammad Obama,' and from the
Canadians - how private is that?

Mr. McCain said he and his fellow prisoners shouldn't ask God to free them, but to help them become the best people they could be while serving as POWs. It was Caesar who put them in prison and Caesar who would get them out. Their task was to act with honor.
Wow.

Damn...just damn.
I guess I am a minority on Free Republic. I voted for McCain in 2000 and I still wish he had won.

I've heard people here criticize McCain for signing the “confession”, while forgetting that he passed up many opportunities to go back to the US.
There are few people on Earth who can testify, based upon their experience, to the level of integrity and discipline it would take to stay with one's buddies and endure unspeakable crippling treatment rather than return to a comfortable life at home.
I just can not imagine what that would take.
It is also very telling that he's never told these stories publicly or probably even privately before. While we could not describe McCain as “humble”, the contrast between his public handling and communication of his war experience with Kerry, and now even Hillary, is downright shocking.

When it comes to choosing a president, the American people want to know more about a candidate than policy positions.
Sorry, I am more interested in his policy positions, than what happened 30+ years ago. Men change. What is important is his actions today and in the near past.
Want to get to know John McCain?
Here is the primer:
Here is McCain's Recent History over the last 7 years:
1. Gang of Fourteen (Kept some of President Bushs best judges from being presented for a vote)
2. McCain-Fiengold (Assault on Free Speech and Pro-Life groups and Gun-rights groups)
3. McCain-Kennedy (Amnesty for criminal Illegal Aliens)
4. McCain-Lieberman (50 cents a gallon tax)
5. Total support for global warming scam, including carbo cap and trade system.
6. Support for embryonic stem cell research (Murder of unborn babies).
7. Leaked top-secret information concerning CIA prisons in Europe
8. Wants to close Gitmo and give Terrorists access to our legal system.
9. F grade from Gun-Owners of America.
10. C- grade from NRA.
11. 60% score from American Conservative Union in 2006
12. Wants to bail out sub-prime losers (many of which are either illegal aliens or lied on thier applications) with US tax money.
13. Voted against President Bushs tax cuts (called them tax-cuts for the rich)
14. Flirted with the idea of crossing over to the Dems in 2004.

What complete and utter treacherous hogwash.
Benedict Arnold betrayed America.
John McCain served his country with honor, valor and grit.

Just read up on Benedict Arnold. Same dude, different time. our family studied Benedict Arnold extensively last year... i don't see the similarities... and no, i am not a fan of John McCain...

I have no idea what this means.
By that I mean, either McCain has been biding his time for several decades in order to be president and has strategically placed himself as the only logical candidate compared to the other democrat nimrods. Taking over the mantle of a conservative champion..........Or he's changed since then and allowed the power and ego to corrupt him in order to be a f'ing RINO and screw us.
The only saving grace about McCain is that he's got two sons that are going to be or have been in harms way.
Of that there is no doubt. So he's got a vested interest in not screwing around with foreign policy.
However due to the military background I feel he's not averse to centralized control...... even when it comes to free markets, medical care, our borders, and tax policy.
So there we have it. All three of the current candidates thinks that all the greatness that is America comes from the government down to the people and not that the government is there only to insure rule of law and several well delineated rights including the right to bear arms and not the right to stick a metal tube inside a baby's head and suck out it's brains cause of an inconvenience.
Caught between the devil and the deep blue sea.......

While I don’t agree with his Center/Center position I will vote for him. I think he can handle a tough decision. He has never forgot being held by his captors in Nam and understands the world in Americas eyes better than the left ever will.

Your cynical attitude towards members of our military is disappointing and belies the general ignorance of someone who failed to serve.
