Latinos outraged over CBS report
Politico ^ | 4/29/08 | GEBE MARTINEZ

As if Katie Couric didn’t already have enough problems.

Weighed down by record-low ratings at the anchor desk of “CBS Evening News,” and by reports suggesting she will leave that post two years before her multimillion-dollar contract expires, Couric now has civil rights groups — mostly Hispanic — on her back.

And for good reason.

The CBS newscast that carries her name recently aired a one-sided and inaccurate report about illegal immigrant women who give birth to their children in the United States. The news story challenged the broader constitutional law of birthright citizenship and stated — without providing the correct context — that the births cost U.S. taxpayers millions of dollars annually.

The story’s central figure was a woman identified as an illegal immigrant, who was lying in her South Texas hospital bed — her right arm wrapped around her newborn and her left hand punctured by an intravenous needle — while reporter Byron Pitts lectured her that “many Americans who struggle to take care of their own families think it is unfair that they should have to take care” of non-U.S. citizens.

For once, CBS broadcasts a mildly balanced and objective report and the La Raza goons react predictably.

And just what is the correct context? That 18 years from now, the kids might go to work and start paying into Social Security...therefore it's all OK?

Re how does the hospital know that a patient is an illegal. Simple:

They don’t pay the bill at the time of service.
Bills sent to their address come back addressee unknown.
The address has many families living in it and they have never heard of the patient.
The address is false. (Vacant lots receive a lot of bills).
The patient’s documents are fakes.

Talk to any doctor or nurse at a major hospital where there is a large Latino patient load. I’ve seen it in my own hospital.

La Raza can shove it up their racist ****

Well, they might also go into crime, get busted and we can seize their property and sell it and use the proceeds for more law enforcement. There's a silver lining in every cloud!

OMG - there’s a balanced report - her left hand has been “punctured” by an IV! Does that mean a needle has been sadistically driven through her whole left hand against her will?? Stay tuned!

Sheesh.
I don’t know of any way to insert an IV without maliciously “puncturing” the skin...did she agree to what will be *free* medical care or not?

We see it in Memphis all of the time. Women who have never worked a day of their lives and are just pumping out kids at a feverish pace. They pay noting. And they don’t speak a word of English.

Enjoy people! This is what you’re working and paying for.

This is what makes the media so liberal: conditioning. Punishment for reporting the truth, and reward for dressing up wolves as sheep.

Get used to hearing a lot of these lines from now on:

without providing the correct context — that the births cost U.S. taxpayers millions of dollars annually.

The rise in anti-immigrant rhetoric, hate crimes against Latinos

And it portrayed birthright citizenship as “an unfair benefit to immigrants rather than a core principle” of constitutional law.

hospital administrator’s statement that the facility has “uncompensated care of over $200 million a year,” which the reporter tied to emergency room care for non-citizens. But how is that known if the hospital does not verify citizenship or legal vs. illegal immigration status?

They need to be informed that their story was not only offensive to Hispanics but also misleading in its portrayal of immigrants as a drain on society,” Baca said.

The Hispanic Caucus recently lashed out at Democratic Party leaders for staging House hearings — beginning next week in the Ways and Means Committee — on bills that would enforce the border, sanction employers or extend visas for seasonal workers.

The leadership is refusing to consider broader reforms such as legalizing the 12 million illegal immigrants in the country out of fear it would jeopardize moderate Democrats in swing districts.

In the media, the Lou Dobbses of the world “say that we bring disease and crime to our country,” NCLR President Janet Murguia said recently. So when CBS aired its report, Murguia wondered, “Is no one above exploiting this issue?”

“We are not going to be the victims of anti-immigrant reporting, and we are not going to sit by as the community is demonized,” said Peter Zamora, a MALDEF attorney.

Actually, when you look back to the first immigration and citizenship laws written in 1789, the simple truth is that Congress has the power to end the "anchor baby" problem with simple legislation. It does NOT require a constitutional amendment.

Why Mexican illegals are driving America "cuckoo"

Why doesn't Mexico take care of its own people? Why don't the ultra-wealthy Mexican elites help to pay for the health care and education etc of their own poor? Why do they instead encourage their poor to leave Mexico and invade the United States? Nature provides a parallel that is instructive.

Some species of birds thrive not by carefully rearing their own young, but by pawning that task off on adults of other species. The European Cuckoo, whose distinctive call is immortalized in the sound of the "cuckoo clock," is the bird in which this habit has been most thoroughly studied. Female European Cuckoos lay their eggs only in the nests of other species of birds. A cuckoo egg usually closely mimics the eggs of the host (one of whose eggs is often removed by the cuckoo).

The host may recognize the intruding egg and abandon the nest, or it may incubate and hatch the cuckoo egg. Shortly after hatching, the young European Cuckoo, using a scoop-like depression on its back, instinctively shoves over the edge of the nest any solid object that it contacts. With the disappearance of their eggs and rightful young, the foster parents are free to devote all of their care to the young cuckoo. Frequently this is an awesome task, since the cuckoo chick often grows much larger than the host adults long before it can care for itself. One of the tragicomic scenes in nature is a pair of small foster parents working like Sisyphus to keep up with the voracious appetite of an outsized young cuckoo.

Many Latinos in America who struggle to take care of their own families think it is unfair that they should have to take care of non-U.S. citizens.

Some Latinos in America are just embarrassed and angry that CBS would show the Latinas’ anchor-baby fraud so simply and clearly.

Couric will now have to reach out to the hispanic community.
She can either flash gang signals or spray paint the news on someone’s garage door.
