Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) is proposing a greater federal commitment to people without health insurance on Tuesday, suggesting that it help funds states to set up non-profit risk pools to help Americans who are denied coverage or cant afford it.
McCains health-policy experts provided a ballpark estimate of $7 billion a year for the new federal commitment.
Cooperation among states in the purchase of insurance would
be a crucial step in ridding the market of both needless and costly regulations, and the dominance in the market of only a few insurance companies, McCain says in remarks prepared for delivery Tuesday morning in Tampa, Fla.

unlike the other two, McCain is an American patriot. yes he's a liberal, but at least he's not a traitorous marxist/jihadist.
He's a traitor by collaborating with Kennedy for a massive amnesty allowing illegals to become legal ANd bring in all of their extended family. That's traitor enough for me. Besides, he was supposed to be on 'our' side. To me, that's even worse than the 2 Dems, who have acted exactly as expected. McAmnesty stabbed his own party - and consistuents - in the back. That's far worse.

Excellent points. By first accepting the liberal premise, we doom ourselves.
We need to put health care back into the free market system.

People who don't get health insurance now (no $ or don't want to spend the $) aren't going to get it under any plan. All that will change is that you (and I) now have a mandate to pay their costs.
There is no magic way to make people responsible for their own health. And whether we pay for their costs via higher hospital bills or higher taxes, we still pay. Or are you just happy that somehow 'the rich' will be paying this and you won't?
