Girls Will Be Girls
Outside The Wire ^ | Bob Parks

This was supposed to be the “Year of the Woman”, that is, until Hillary Clinton cried. But Lindsay Lohan, Randi Rhodes, Britney, Jamie Lynn Spears, Naomi Campbell, and Paris Hilton have showed us that some high-profile women have a long way to go when it comes to being our national inspirations.

Destiny’s Child According to the Associated Press, Miley Cyrus, the “Hannah Montana” teen superstarlet, is unhappy with some of the pictures included in her Vanity Fair photoshoot by Annie Liebovitz.

I took part in a photo shoot that was supposed to be 'artistic' and now, seeing the photographs and reading the story, I feel so embarrassed. I never intended for any of this to happen and I apologize to my fans who I care so deeply about.

Granted, Destiny “Miley” Cyrus didn’t strip butt naked, but when instead of Oscar de la Renta you’re handed a bed sheet, someone’s arms should’ve been flailing with those red flags. One would think her dad, Billy Ray Cyrus, would have enough common sense to know what a costume like that could (and would) imply.

Unlike some my age who are paid to monitor this kind of kiddie pop, I know nothing of the Disney Channel’s hit about a teenager who leads a double life as a regular girl and rockstar Hannah Montana. Outside of being irritated when turning on my television to catch up on breaking news, just to see and hear some screaming kid on a screaming kid network, that the last user of the set left it on, I could care less about her show and subsequent stratospheric concert sales last fall.

But this point, Miley Cyrus is now part of a growing list of tainted role models.

“Miley Cyrus, the “Hannah Montana” teen superstarlet, is unhappy with some of the pictures “

Miley only became unhappy when Disney became unhappy. She stands to lose a lot of money.

Does anyone know if Zoey 101 is a Disney property?

I don’t think the picture is too racy. If she was photographed in a bikini, it would be more revealing.

15-year-old girl, bare back, bed sheet covering her front? Why, no ... we’re not trying to normalize kiddie porn. What make syou think that?

"If she was photographed in a bikini, it would be more revealing."

True, it would be more revealing. But the bed sheet wrapped around her suggests a more seductive setting.

I think it was a mistake for her to pose that way.

There is no such thing as bad publicity.

Perhaps, but from a business stand point, I think they would be better off riding the innocent teenager perception as long as they could. There doing very well at that, why try to end it?

Two possibilities here: one, there is no reason a 15 year old girl should pose for any picture that could be considered "racy." Daddy should have ensured that they didn't even go there. Since that wasn't done, huge FUBAR.

Second possibility is that Miley WANTS to distance herself from Disney. Maybe contractual issues, etc. and now is the time to do something that forces Disney to back off and/or cut her loose from her contract. Just my two cents.

The APA has “normalized” homosexuality as not being a brain disorder, and has already declared that “adult-child sex” can be beneficial to the child.

Yes, you’re absolutely right - the left’s goal is to sexualize children, and normalize it in our society.

You have to wonder if sex with children is the goal unto itself, or if it is just the next step in destroying our society.

“True, it would be more revealing. But the bed sheet wrapped around her suggests a more seductive setting.”

Not to mention the purposely mussed up hair. This photo was designed to imply sex. And so begins the slutification of Miley.

They’re not trying to end it. They’re trying to keep it going. She cannot remain an innocent teen (ha ha) forever.

“This photo was designed to imply sex. And so begins the slutification of Miley.”

On the other hand, perhaps Liebowitz tried to capture the innocence of her youth. Eye of the beholder...

Slutification not restricted to big stars. I was at a celebration this weekend - Dia Del Los Ninos - which featured mostly cultural dances. Until the group from Madison’s Cherokee Middle School had their turn. “Latina Pride” did a dance to rap style music that was so suggestive, I thought their fathers must be nowhere in the country. I was embarrassed for their parents.

Annie Lebovitz uses enough digital manipulation these days that it matters not what you where to the shoot or whether you are alone or with people. the final shot may bear scant similarity to the shoot.

They are being arrested in Texas for stuff like this.

Throw her dad in jail. He’s a pimp.

I never understand the personality of these folks. She's got a personal worth approaching $1B. She's 15. Her family should look around at other child stars and see how many of them turned out happy and normal. If they had any sense, they'd cash in, walk away with a small fortune and go live in a small town and raise horses for 5 or 6 generations.

Or they could pimp out Miley for another year or two until it all comes crashing down. That's certainly another way to approach the situation.

Disney made her. She dominates their TV line up and their radio station.

My daughter and all her friends love her but she’s not even a tweener yet. Late teenagers are not Miley’s audience.

Big screw up here.
