Thanks to Libertas, I noticed a New York Times interview in which Iron Mans Tony Stark, Robert Downey, Jr., admitted that though he doesnt say it too loudly at dinner parties, hes a conservative. This is a pretty big catch for our side: consider that Downeys father, who made the radical underground film Putney Swope, was one of the most celebrated leftists in the film world in the 60s. Says Downey Jr:
I have a really interesting political point of view, and its not always something I say too loud at dinner tables here, but you cant go from a $2,000-a-night suite at La Mirage to a penitentiary and really understand it and come out a liberal. You cant. I wouldnt wish that experience on anyone else, but it was very, very, very educational for me and has informed my proclivities and politics every since.
You know all the people that Liberals are supposed to admire and have sympathy for? Sharing a cell block with them is guaranteed to kill any positive feelings a liberal might have for them
Angie Harmon is a known Republican. I think she was at the convention in 04.
that’s the end of HIS career in Hollywood
Hollyweird Libs are so far Left off the charts, they think Johnnie McWhacked is a far right wing conservative.
I guess their little drug-addled minds would be really blown if we informed them that G W Bush is not a conservative either.
Send more liberals to the Pen.
Angie Harmon has been known as having a Republican bent for some time.
Heidi Montag is a very attractive airhead, but not necessarily a great advertisement for our side’s intellectual achievements.
Amazing that such a simple realization could turn one Conservative, but it shows just how out of touch from reality liberalism is.
We've all heard the "a Conservative is a Liberal who has been mugged" witticism. Downey is referring to a similar eye-opening experience. He wasn't the victim of an individual criminal, though, but of the pervasive Hollywood culture. His "mugging" was self-inflicted.
Note that even Paris Hilton seems to have cleaned up her act somewhat - and she spent mere hours in the Greybar Hotel. I suspect, though, that Downey's attitude adjustment will last a bit longer than Miz Hilton's.
As for the "rite of passage" thing, I think that applies mostly certain minority groups. The Lohan/Hilton/Spears crowd seems to have embraced legal problems and possible incarceration as tools to stay in the media spotlight. White guys in their thirties... not so much.
He flies a Cessna 414 and a Citation.
More pilots than not are Conservative.
This is excellent.
Angie rules!
I had watched this before somewhere, thanks for reminding me! The linked version cut off about halfway through for me, so I went in search of the original. You can find the text here:

What an epiphany his (Evan Sayet’s) talk was! It distills their thinking beautifully and answers the question, “CAN they all be THAT stupid??”.

Amazing how lucid one becomes after the drugs wear off.
The late Charlton Heston once said that there were more closet conservatives in Hollywood, than there were closet homosexuals.
It is long, I watched the whole thing, well worth it, thanks for the link.
Not necessarily. If "Iron Man" becomes a big hit, and he has first refusal for sequels, he can be there for a while. Ultimately, they will ignore politics if the star brings in serious $$.
Freeman's a democrat. He's just a very good actor playing conservative characters and doesn't seem to be a moonbat about it. More Tom Hanks than David Geffen.
