Anchorage continues to dig out from a snowfall that set a record for the day and the month. The National Weather Service says 17.2 inches fell at its office just south of Anchorage's international airport and 22 inches fell in northeast Anchorage on Friday and Saturday.
The heaviest snow fell between 3 and 6 p.m. Friday at a rate of almost two inches per hour.
The monthly total at the weather service office is now 29.7 inches, breaking a record from 1963 when 27.6 inches fell during April.

It's not the snowfall, it the avg temps. At least that's what some evironut told me.
Have the temperatures actually been warmer this year worldwide?
Global Temperatures
The combined global land and ocean surface temperature was 1.53°F (0.85°C) warmer than the 20th century average of 53.6°F (12.0°C) for January based on preliminary data, surpassing the previous record set in 2002 at 1.28°F (0.71°C) above the average. Last month's record was greatly influenced by a record high land-surface temperature, which was 3.40°F (1.89°C) warmer than average. Separately, the global ocean-surface temperature was fourth warmest in the 128-year series, approximately 0.1°F (0.05°C) cooler than the record established during the very strong El Niño episode in 1998.
Then, we come home to find out Seattle had snow the weekend of 12 April at sea level. Unbelieveable.
Global warming my ass........
Really? I believe that data is in conjuction with the NOAA. Did you check it out?
And here we have that friggin Newt Gingrich in an opportunistic move trying to co-opt the global warming movement by coming up with his “green conservatism”. No, Newt, politically you’re doing just what various businesses have done—they’ve ignored reality in order to market to people’s misguided and manipulated perceptions about global warming and, in doing so, made the problem even worse by lending it an air of reality or authority that it shouldn’t have had to begin with. And this reminds me of something attributed to Lenin or one of those guys to the effect that the capitalist will sell the rope that will be used to hang him.
Global warming has hit a big wall this year and
those who bother to look outside or see reported temps
for around the world are asking : what global warming?
Whitehorse Yukon where I was this past summer (july) had highs in the low 60’s and lows below freezing.
in Feb they were at -45 and no air traffic was allowed in or out due to the extreme cold.
Remember the Global warming crowd said it would get progressively hotter they did not say there would ever be periods of cooling in the years ahead..ignoring common sense.
WHEN IT'S SPRINGTIME IN ALASKA (IT'S FORTY BELOW)

I mushed from Point Barrow through a blizzard of snow
Been out prospectin' for two years or so
Pulled into Fairbanks the city was a boom
So I took a little stroll to the Red Dog Saloon
As I walked in the door the music was clear
The purtiest voice I had heard in two years
The song she was singin' made a man's blood run cold
When it's springtime in Alaska, it's forty below
(When it's springtime in Alaska, it's forty below)
It was Redheaded Lil who was singin' so sweet
I reached down and took the snowpacks off my feet
I reached for the gal who was singin' the tune
We did the Eskimo Hop all around the saloon
With a caribou crawl and the grizzly bear hug
We did our dance on a kodiak rug
The song she kept singin' made a man's blood run cold
When it's springtime in Alaska, it's forty below
I was as innocent as I could be
I didn't know Lil was big Ed's wife to be
He took out his knife and he gave it a throw
When it's springtime in Alaska, I'll be six feet below
(When it's springtime in Alaska, he'll be six feet below)
Look, I'm just seeking facts here. I don't neccessarily believe the globe is warming, but when you have a national science research center telling you it is, do you think it wise to seek out more facts?
Did you look at the link because they are reporting average global temp rise.
Global warming is no big deal. The question is, if it's happening, WHY is it happening and do we need to do anything about it? Not that we peons ever could!
Remember they were saying 1998 was the hottest year ever on record until some blogger discovered that they were fudging the data? Didn’t someone uncover that they were biasing their data using the urban-based (heat island) temperature monitors over satellite monitors (or something like that) in order to make it hotter than it really is? There are lots of examples of supposedly reputable scientists in and out of the government who are fudging the data to further a global warming agenda.
The song is cute, but irrelevant. The difference between Anchorage and Barrow is greater than the difference between Miami and Buffalo.
No, I think it would be wise to be highly sceptical of data from an organization that has a transparent fiscal incentive to manufacture data to prop up a political PR line.
Who do you think is going to get their Govt budget increased? A Govt funded researcher who says "You are all going to die of heat stroke" or one who says " The standard political line on Global warming is not supported by the data"?
The NOAA data is at odds with research being done at the University of Alabama. How do you explain the very wide disparity in results from two scientific studies on the same topic?
The point is every time the weather is even slightly warm or weird we are bombarded by politicians, and other Chicken Little's, about how that is "proof" of Global Warming.
If we are suppose to accept such absurd anecdotal evidence as "proof" then the high priest of the Church of Man Made Global Warming also have to explain all this data that refutes their dogmas.
The two comparative photos below are a nice example:
