New York Post ^ | April 27, 2008 | ROBERT RORKE AND STEPHEN LYNCH

Our parents told us TV would melt our brains. While it's possible "Punky Brewster" and "A-Team" did just that, along the way we saw some genius art. Television can't play 90 minutes on the big screen and vanish into the bargain bin. And it lacks one author to take it from introduction to the final page. Yet within these boundaries, there are a small number of shows that capture our attention, our obsession, and create enduring stories. How many? 35. They're listed here.

I’ve seen reruns of the Carol Burnett show, so I agree there, but not with the others.
My vote would be for ‘ Beauty and the Beast’-before they got stupid and killed Catherine, and ‘Northern Exposure’. Brilliantly quirky show, whole cast was great.
Haven’t watched ANY tv regularly since those two, although I do try to catch Gordon Ramsey whenever he’s on.

My Dad loved it when it was on, but I didn’t watch any TV back then, so I ignored his recommendation. He was sure right, as always.

I still Tivo it hoping to catch the elusive episode I might have missed...but I think I’ve seen them all at least 3 times.

yuck! who came up with this list? no “Frasier,” and no Star Trek: The Next Generation... and no Bablyon 5? let’s see, what else is missing? i have to admit, i liked Murphy Brown back in the early 90s... i was not quite conservative yet...

Yep, and I had forgotten TWILIGHT ZONE, which may have been the best seies EVER. Was CHEERS on their list? Don’t think so-and for comedy, that was another of the best. How about The original OUTER LIMITS?
(Tales calculated to keep you in....) SUSPENSE.
STUDIO ONE. OMNIBUS (although I didn’t care for it much).
So many more worthy than many on their list. I’m sure we’ll think of more. LOL
And I just did-KRAFT MYSTERY THEATRE. Great stories and acting!

There is Star Trek, and then there is everything else.

I’m a big Lucy fan. I’ve seen them all a zillion times but I still laugh.
