There’s No Debate – Obama Says He Won’t Face Clinton Before Indiana and North Carolina [Chicken]
CBS ^ | 4/26/2008

ANDERSON, IND. – Barack Obama’s campaign is refusing any more debates with Hillary Clinton until after the May 6th primaries, despite attempts by the Clinton campaign to offer a new debate structure. “We have participated in 21 nationally televised debates, the most in primary history, including four exclusively with Senator Clinton,” said Obama spokesman Robert Gibbs. “Senator Clinton refused an earlier invitation that had been accepted to debate in North Carolina.”

The Clinton campaign objected to that debate because it was during Passover. Clinton campaign manger Maggie Williams sent a letter the Obama camp today, suggesting a Lincoln-Douglas style debate without moderators.

“If Lincoln and Douglas had debated 21 times,” Obama chief strategist David Axelrod responded, “I don't think there would be much appetite for another Lincoln-Douglas debate."

But that’s not how the Clinton campaign is doing the math. “Our final two primary candidates to date have had three fewer debates than Lincoln and Douglas held in single state over 60 days in 1858,” says Williams in her letter, referring to the seven Lincoln-Douglas debates. Obama and Clinton have only had four one-on-one debates – the other 17 were all with other candidates participating as well.

Obama himself also closed the door to any debates in the near future. “We're not going to have debates between now and Indiana,” he told Chris Wallace of Fox News.

Someday the word “Obama” will mean “chicken”, as in:

America’s OBAMA’s... (twirling my finger over my head as I face around the room)... are coming home to ROOST!

He’ll come off worse than Bush without his teleprompter. The guy is a scam, an actor like Clooney.

It is understood generally that vis-a-vis debates, the underdog proposes and the frontrunner declines as long as possible. This is pretty standard operating procedure on Obama's part. Why give the challenger a chance at a lucky shot if you don't have to. Why would anybody.

It’s up to the Democratic Party. If they nominate Obama, they will pay the price in November.

Like a cage match? I would pay to see that!

the underdog proposes and the frontrunner declines

Exactly.
I've said the exact thing but some people just do not understand that this is a smart move by Obama.

They are blinded by wishful thinking - what they want others to think about Obama is not what is going to happen.

Stripped of emotion the rules for winning are:
1) Never change a winning game.
2) always change a losing game.
3) not following rules one and two means that you lose.

I don't think Lincoln would have declined. Obama is a moral and political coward. I'm glad someone is challenging him, 'cause McCain sure as hell won't.

I get it.

From article: "The Clinton campaign objected to that debate because it was during Passover.

Counterpunch posted a revelatory article on 01-31-07 concerning the goings on by NC NAACP, pro-union sympathists, and illegal immigrant traffickers to force a privately owned company into becoming UNION in a Right to Work State.

Read it:

Campaigning around Martin Luther King Day allowed UFCW organizers to tackle one of their biggest obstacles: the divide between Tar Heel's Black and Latino workers. Last spring, when immigrants rallied across the country demanding fair immigration reform, many of Smithfield's Latino workers walked off the job in solidarity, while most Black workers remained at work.

Ludlum explained that the vote to choose between Easter and Martin Luther King Day reflected, and exploited, those divisions: "A majority of the workers at the plant were Latino and immigrant, they didn't know the history of Martin Luther King, but of course they know what Easter is."

To bridge the Black/Latino divide, Smithfield workers organized an educational campaign during the lead-up to Martin Luther King Day. Said Ludlum, "We've been passing out flyers in Spanish explaining the history of Dr. King, the fact that he fought for all people, that when he took the bullet he was supporting sanitation workers in Memphis who wanted to be treated with respect."

According to Eduardo Peña, who's been organizing in Tar Heel for more than four years, the educational work paid off. Said Peña: "We've got Latino workers here ready to walk out for the holiday. I hear them saying things like, 'People assume that we don't know who King was-his struggle was the same struggle we're going through now.'"

--end snip

There ya go: The Prophetic Vision as laid out via Wright, the UCC, the NAACP, Pro-Illegal Immigrant Activists, Pro-Union Sympathizers, and ultimately pro-gay marriage supporters.

And the magic number is 21. Yes, this is how BO got his "messiah" imaging.

The Obamanation knows Shrillary would box his big, floppy Dumbo ears in an unscripted debate. Don't think for a moment that the Klinton Kampaign Korps doesn't read what's all over boards like these - as perverted as it sounds, I think I'd actually be pulling for her, because we've indirectly provided her (and her apparatchiks) with so much rhetorical ordinance as of late. Might as well feast on the momentary spoils of victory, yes?

This is pretty standard operating procedure on Obama's part.

But one of Hilary's main themes, since before the last debate, has been that Obama is unelectable, that McCain has tons of ammunition to use against Obama, and that Democrats need to rally behind her if they want to win in November. Now Obama is playing right into that and showing that he is afraid and cannot defend his positions even to Democrats, let alone Independent and wavering Republicans. He seems to know that he 's unelectable -- unless he is able to hide from people and maintain that mysterious aura of the messiah.

He's done.
