Hey, no problem, I’m sure miz paloosie will put a stop to this “contracting” business.
No problem if they do it from the air and hit them hard. I wouldn’t put boots on the ground in Iran. Just destroy their system of government and the people will take the country back.
I sympathize, but they’re already fighting a three-front war. Unacknowledged conflicts are impossible to win.
Anyway, Coalition Naval forces would suffer the brunt of any additional action. They have been suffering under preposterous ROE for too long: being able to go weapons-free in the gulf as a result of an Iranian casus belli would be a huge step forward.
Sink their entire Navy. That’s a couple of days for a carrier group, and the last time we did it we didn’t have any land engagements.
I believe we can use our airpower to destoy these clowns
IF they decide to start something with troops, our forces have the means to monitor their every move, like we are already, I am sure
I have no sympathy for an Iranian Army that invades Iraq that now has an Army with AMERICAN leaders, weapons, and manpower and airpower and over 2 MILLION Iraqi men who would be quite willing to re-fight that war on those terms!
:)
Whether we like it or not, we are going to have resolve this one day.
“Our brave soldiers are already fighting a two front war”
We’re fighting against AQ and Iran. If it weren’t for them, there would be fighting at all.
Won't be a third front. Iran is the source of conflict on those other two fronts, plus a few other smaller ongoing trouble spots.
When you are fighting fire ants or terrorists, there is no substitute for taking out the queen with whatever means are necessary.
Quick decisive military actions always result in less longterm causalities and financial damage. Indecisive feckless diplomacy has killed millions in this last century alone.
Ancient leaders (and current belligerent tyrants) know this and would consider such cowardliness as an open invitation to attack, for no other reason than to spare the enemies subjects further agony of living in constant uncertainty.
I’m ready to go now.
so are all of my buds. Don’t know even one with that attitude.
Better to go and kick ass right now rather than pull guard duty around a radioactive smoking crater right here.
Pray tell, where do you think the bad guys are getting their materiel?
If you said, "Iran," go to the head of the class.
Now then: how would open combat with Iran be any different than what we have today?
If you said, "Open war would allow us to stop the flow of arms and jihadists to Iraq," give yourself a gold star.
Any other answer, though, and I'd have to guess someone else logs you onto your computer...
True, although the Chairman of the Joint chiefs has recently said we have enough forces in reserve to deal with Iran. Besides while the Army and Marines are pretty busy, the Navy and Air Force aren't. Iran has salt water on two sides, and a USAF base to the northeast of it. (in Bishkek Kyrgyzstan) and to the east in Bagram Afghanistan. Also to the south a bit is the British base at Diego Garcia, which has a B-52/B-1 capable runway, and a nice big supply of bombs. )
