Windflier, I have a lot of respect for you, but I refuse to swallow that bitter pill. I’ll be damned if I’ll aid and abet any course of action which allows Obama or Hillary to ascend to the presidency...

and appoint three to four activist Supreme Court Justices, guaranteeing that Rove v Wade will not be overturned in my lifetime;

and pull our troops out of Iraq, betraying what our best and brightest fought and died for and delivering our Iraqi allies into the hands of the jihadists, like lambs to the slaughter;

and embark on a spending spree which will make Bush’s big-government “conservatism” look tame by comparison;

and allow the Bush tax cuts to expire, forcing me to help pay for even more programs of liberal social engineering, not to mention jacking up the eaxes on the people who sign my paychecks.

No, McPain’s no prize, but he’s not half as bad as Hillary or Obama. I guess people have forgotten how bad it was the last time there was such a liberal as those two in the White House.

And no, McCain’s not the same as the two Dems. He has a 65 rating from the ACU, with an 82 lifetime. Hillary and Obama are both in single digits, with identical ratings of 8 (9 lifetime).

Anyone else remember the misery of the Carter years, or is it just me?

Like I said, I approach the idea of one of the Democrats taking the White House with a great deal of trepidation. I hear everything you say, and therein lies my unease over what may come.

I hope like hell that if John McCain is elected, that he’ll be kept to heel in his leftward lean. I’m not so convinced that he will be, given the current makeup of the congress.

My most optimistic hope is that John McCain has actually learned a few important things about the American people in the last couple of years, and that he is truly transforming, as a result.

That is a mighty high hope. His record damns him in the eyes of most conservatives, and even a lot of rank and file Republicans. How are we to believe his claims that he now holds conservative views, and will govern as a conservative, if elected? It’s a tough sell, don’t you think?

My natural instinct tells me that a guy who is 3/4ths conservative is far better than someone who’s 3/100ths. Analytically, that makes perfect sense. But, we’re talking about a guy who only a year ago tried to give away American citizenship for free to millions of illegal invaders, who are destroying our country.

And then there’s the rest of his laundry list of egregious assaults on conservative principles to be considered. I don’t know .. the man quite rightly makes me and a lot of other conservatives nervous.

I’ll give you this; Obama and Clinton make me even more nervous. But - we oppose them 100%. Not so with McCain. We are split into all sorts of factions about the man. How will he be kept in check with such a dysfunctional base?

Listen .. my mind is malleable on this issue. I don’t have an opinion that’s cast in stone. I can still analyze fact and logic and hopefully come to the most optimum solution. It just doesn’t appear to me from what I’ve seen that we’ve got much of a clear choice about McCain.

You probably didn’t see my first post about this concept. In that post I said that I would never be able to pull the lever for either of the Democrats, in good conscience. I still won’t, and I’m not advocating that anyone else do so, either. My view is simply that we may have a harder time of it with John McCain at the helm.

I remember those awful Carter years. Astonishingly he’s doing almost as much damage these days as he did then.

And I agree with your points Josh, there is NO WAY I’ll vote to put a communist in the WH, if for no other reason that SCOTUS nominations.

Nice to see all you Fredheads again.
