In his upcoming biography of Jesus, "Basic Instinct" director Paul Verhoeven will make the shocking claim that Christ probably was the son of Mary and a Roman soldier who raped her during the Jewish uprising in Galilee.
An Amsterdam publishing house said Wednesday it will publish the Dutch filmmaker's biography of Jesus, "Jesus of Nazareth: A Realistic Portrait," in September.

Paul Verhoeven’s mother was not raped by a goat. She raped the goat. Her son Paul loves goats to this day.
And I never implied that he was stupid. What exactly is your point here, and how is it directly relevant to the discussion at hand?
God was a Roman soldier?
So much for the FR “Search” capability. What number is this now? About five?
My point is that Brown is a bomb thrower designed to make a lot of folks question the foundations of morality...that he does so by a mixture of legend, dredged up gnosticism, historic facts twisted out of context, and fictionalized conspiracy mongering goes beyond the pale.
A lot of folks aren’t necessarily schooled in logic, church history, or philosophy. So, to write a book that purports to have even a patina of historic authenticity, even as the author lamely attempts to say “I made it all up!” is the height of cynicism and profiteering on the ignorance of others. Yes, I think Brown knew what he was doing, though he didn’t anticipate the blowback he received. Still, he didn’t get his head chopped off by a po’d Catholic or run down by an Amish horse and buggy!
Is there any other point you feel I haven’t made clear?
In his upcoming biography of "Basic Instinct" director Paul Verhoeven, Condor51 will make the shocking claim that Verhoeven is the illegitimate son of an Amsterdam whore and heroin addict, and of a syphilitic Russian sailor who picked her up on a street corner for three Rubles during his shore leave. An Amsterdam publishing house said Wednesday it will publish the biography of Verhoeven, "Paul of Amsterdam: A Realistic Portrait of an Assh*le," in September.
No offense meant to syphilitic Russian sailors.
Don’t bite, dummies. Another nutcase like this comes along every thirty days, or minutes. By our bizarre-ness are we recognized. Why don’t parents give their kids more attention when they’re young? What a bore...
That's why Verhoeven wouldn't even write up the true stuff that makes Muhammad look bad, much less invent some crap about him. He may not fear God, but he fears getting his throat slit.
I didn’t see this story on Fox, but I typically hate the way they cover such things. They really tend to give the benefit of the doubt to the blasphemer/author, staging the question as if it may be plausible.
The Resurrection qualifies as such, I would figure. But your point is valid, nonetheless.
OK
Let's look at this calmly like normal adults, and stop giving this loser free publicity.
Anything that comes of this will bear no more resemblance to historical facts than his sad previous movie bore to Heinlein's classic story.
If enough clowns made movies driven by the gay agenda, who would ever go back to the movies? Think about that.
Incidentally, I was shocked a few days ago. I went to a theater for the first time in about a year, to see Expelled. The previews were shocking. Not an absurd movie among them: no shock and awe, pervervions or gratuitous guts and gore in the bunch. I had to pinch myself. So many wholesome coming attractions that I actually am looking forward to seeing. I am still puzzling over that.
He stole it from the Talmud.
Anything is possible.
Being able to image alternatives is what separates us from --- say, camels.
Well, let me join that repetition chorus:
I spend an average of about 6 hours a day accessing FR. That's all that I can spare and still have a life.
I do not cheat my employer by surfing while "working".
Bottom line, neither you nor the admin is the center of this particular universe. The members, readers and supporters are.
Any article over 4 hours old may as well be sent to a black hole.
Now... if we could access the forum and read headlines starting with what was posted 5 hours ago...
Wrong answer. He says on his website that the theories have merit. That's like the author of "The Eagle Has Landed" saying the idea that the Germans really had a plan to capture Winston Churchill has merit. He also confirmed his belief in the theory to Matt Lauer and had this to say to NPR:
WERTHEIMER: How long does it take you to research a book like this? I assume that, among other things, you would hear from the world if youve got anything wrong.Mr. BROWN: Certainly. And it takes me about two and a half years to entirely research and write a book like this. Before I even started writing a page, Id spent a year in research, and a lot of the research for Angels and Demons that I did in Vatican City played into this book, as well as my art history training in Seville.
WERTHEIMER: Youre trying not to get too fictional with the facts here?
Mr. BROWN: Absolutely. The only thing fictional in The Da Vinci Code is the characters and the action that takes place. All of the locations, the paintings, the ancient history, the secret documents, the rituals, all of this is factual.
And this is what he said to Charlie Gibson on Good Morning America in 2003:
Gibson: This is a novel. If you were writing it as a non-fiction book, how would it have been different?Brown: I dont think it would have. I began the research for The Da Vinci Code as a skeptic. I entirely expected, as I researched the book, to disprove this theory. And after numerous trips to Europe, about two years of research, I really became a believer. And its important to remember this is a novel about a theory that has been out there for a long time.
Gibson: We showed it to a number of religious leaders there were some Catholics which said, Whoathis is crackpot theory, a lot of it.
Brown: Well, again, this is a theory that has been out there for quite a while. When I first heard it I said, This is a crackpot theory. I began researching it. After two years I decided, this theory makes more sense to me than what I was taught as a child.
So, he believes it, says elsewhere that it's important that we've diiscussed it and that he's doing the Church a favor by bringing it forward. As for him never intending for anyone to believe it, here's a guy who says it'strue, believes it's true and that it makes more sense than Christian teaching...wouldn't he have to be the biggest putz in the world if he believed it's all true but didn't care if anyone else learned the truth?
I recall one writer compared Brown to George Lucas showing up and saying that though the Star Wars films are fiction, they're based on real historical events and people should thank him for getting debate started about whether lightsabers are real.
