DURHAM - A University of New Hampshire student who was told by a professor that he could not wear an empty gun holster in her class as part of a protest responded by posting the correspondence on the Internet, which earned the professor several angry e-mail from strangers.

Senior Matt Ham, 22, is taking part in a nationwide demonstration this week in which participants wear empty gun holsters as a way to push for college students with permits to carry a concealed weapon to be able to bring guns onto campus. Those in favor of the move say that just one armed student could have prevented the massacre at Virginia Tech last year.

The protest is being sponsored by the group Students for Concealed Carry on Campus.

If this professor had just let him do it, we wouldn't be aware of the protest. Now, lots of people know. I guess you don't have to be very smart to be a professor.

UNH Deputy Police Chief Paul Dean said nothing in the emails constituted a threat, so Ham broke no laws or rules in posting Reinertsen's address, but he described the move as being "in poor taste" and "counterproductive."

"It's someone's desperate attempt to get their message out there and not be silenced," Dean said.

Chilling words from a law enforcement officer sworn to serve and protect.

Bang!

This fool expected to be able to act in a fascist manner without repercussions. Her email is public record here:

http://tinyurl.com/5l9zqy

Why should she expect to not hear about her ridiculous actions from the general public? Why should this student have not posted about her absurd directive?

She probably would have been fine with him burning a U.S. flag on the campus square, but wearing an empty holster!? NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

He’s the police chief for the university. You would expect him to support the faculty line.

He is an idiot, no doubt.

Bad cop! No donut!

“It’s someone’s desperate attempt to get their message out there and not be silenced,” Dean said.
.....
Guess the student should have quietly allowed himself to silenced, eh, dumb@ss?
.....
Dean, who described himself as a lifelong gun user and a member of the National Rifle Association
.....
Uh huh. Sure
.....
“I just know that more guns aren’t the answer,” Dean said.
.....
Yup, because you are so much smarter - prescient even - that you just KNOW armed people are not harder to gun down in large numbers. Thanks for enlightening us with your superior wisdom, you ####### moron.

Actually, this “professor” doesn’t appear to have the credentials to be a professor. From what i can tell she is just a “lecturer”. Whatever the hell that means.

That probably means that she has an Masters degree in Cultural Studies or Women’s Issues and can’t be hired as a professor which requires a PhD. She is probably a former student who impressed a faculty member with her “progressive” social theories. Couldn’t get a real job, but pushes the socialist agenda in a flashy way. Just conjecturing.

I wouldn’t be a bit surprised if you were right on the money in your assessment of her.

Isn’t the NH motto “Live free or die”?

It should be, “please rape me of my rights and dignity” these days.

I know he's more of a rent-a-cop; it's the sentiment that bothers me:

"Ya know, we here at the University have settled this issue and now he's the one who decided to protest his inability to exercise his constitutional right."

Forty-five years ago, these university officials were the same radicals taking over campuses by force. Today these dregs of society demand "gun-free" and "free speech" zones.

Fascists!

"If I enter a classroom and there are two people with a gun, who do you think is going to die," he asked. "Both people."

Your a moron who shouldn't be allowed any where near a gun let alone a badge.

From what I’ve observed in these university shootings, the cops stand out in the street or enter the buildings after all the shooting has stopped, a good sign that the shooter has killed himself. Can you think of a single instance when police have rescued students in these situations? I can’t.

What unbelievable incompetence. What if there's a plain clothes cop in the room with the perp. I work for the Border Patrol and I carry off duty always. If that fat donut eating turd were come in and try to paste me while I was servicing a target, I would bring violence so hard and fast to that Barney Fife, he'd wake up in Paradise with a mouth full of asphalt and a bleeding a**hole.

W. Scott Lewis, a provost at the University of South Carolina, said “Eleven U.S. colleges - all nine public colleges in Utah, Colorado State University and Blue Ridge Community College, in Weyers Cave, Va. - have, for a combined total of more than 60 semesters, allowed concealed carry on campus, without a single incident of gun violence, without a single gun accident and without a single gun theft.”

The police went after the Texas Tower Sniper...but did it along with a civilian who had his rifle from the Civilian Marksmanship Program, IIRC.

I think you’ll more likely find them crouched behind cars or buildings out of the line of fire. The cameramen are in more danger.
