Up the pole: EU to carve up UK
The Sun (UK) ^ | April 23, 2008 | CLODAGH HARTLEY

Secret plans reveal the South of England will be renamed TRANSMANCHE — and governed in part by bureaucrats based in France.

Two more “Transnational” zones are also being set up to “promote the territorial agenda” of the EU.

The ATLANTIC REGION — stretching thousands of miles from the northern tip of Scotland to southern Spain — will take in western England and Wales, along with parts of Portugal and France.

And the NORTH SEA REGION will cover chunks of eastern England and eastern Scotland, Sweden, Denmark, Germany, Holland, and the Flemish part of Belgium.

The Atlantic will have its headquarters in Portugal, the North Sea in Denmark.

Ironically, news of the carve-up comes on St George’s Day — England’s national day.

Critics, including the Tories, claim the new regions “ignore thousands of years of history and wipe England off the map”.

Spokesman Eric Pickles said: “We knew Gordon Brown had hoisted the white flag of surrender to the European Constitution.

“Now the Labour Government has been caught red-handed, conspiring with European bureaucrats to create a European Superstate via the back door.”

The stated “strategic objective” of the regions is to “support the emergence of a common space of citizenship, a sense of belonging to a cross-border area with a unique identity”.

For Britain, that means issues like transport, the environment, shipping and “cross-cultural links” — which could include tourism and town-twinning.

The three regions have been granted £660million of EU funds between them, with each handling its own budget.

A Government spokesman said: “It is about support for business, boosting employment and turning around our deprived areas.”

The controversial move to reshape national boundaries — which also insists any projects in those areas must “fly the EU flag” — emerged as England celebrates its patron saint’s day.

"It is about support for business"

That's what the next US president will say, trying to pull the same thing here.

Is he a queen too?

He doesn't own nothing, really. It belongs to the state (which is now the EU) after his Mother dies. Their "kingdom" doesn't exist anymore.

I'm John MCain and I approve that message.

I'm Hillary Clinton and I approve that message.

I'm Barack Obama and I approve that message.

Is that the Republican form of the Obama phrase, "We are the ones that we've been waiting for"?

Their water pistols? Oops, nope, they banned those too... Seems like every culture in the former UK has laws protecting them and their 'rights" except the British culture, which only exists (for now) in older history books. It's not even in new history books anymore.

All the European countries have tons of culture. They’re loaded with classical music, literature, ballet, public sculpture, massive cathedrals, literature in English, German, French, Italian, Spanish... The list is endless. I’ve been there several times. The problem is that economics and power are taking center stage here rather than respect for cultures, and it’s all going to be governed by a few individuals aided by a vast bureaucracy.

so what’s she Queen of?

She's Queen of Great Britain, Australia, Canada and some other places. If Great Britain devolves (please God) then she'll be Queen of each separate country of the Union.

except she’s a widower

I think women get to be widows, not widowers. And her husband is still alive.

receiving far too much state welfare money. Technically, her estate should be sold when she dies because welfare payments are added as a lien on property owned by a recipient.

When the Queen received money on the civil list it was in fact money in lieu of the income on the Crown Lands. Her lands, like your house is your house. That money was hers. She has long since cancelled the monies - maybe because she felt bad about Henry VIII nicking the Crown Lands in the first place - but it was her money. She wasn't - and isn't - on welfare.

Thanks. I suspected as much. On the other hand, nothing surprises me any more.

All the European countries have tons of culture.

I know that, I live here :0)

When I refer to the Roman Empire's cultural superiority I mean their quite evident advantages in cleanliness, bridge-building etc over the barbarians. The new soi-disant elites of Europe think they have that same innate Imperial advantage over the benighted nation-states of Europe. Of course you and I agree that they don't. Freaking socialists the lot of them.

Try to get in some longbow practice before the EUrocrats catch you and slice off your index and middle fingers.

Are we going to stand by and twiddle our thumbs while this takes place?

Probably, just as we're standing by and twiddling our thumbs while Dubya is wheeling and dealing with American sovereignty at the North American Leaders Summit in New Orleans.

I'm not a troglodyte. I feel there may be good reasons to streamline our trade relationships within the North American trio of nations, especially in light of EU developments -- but absolutely not if it's done in secret without the informed consent of the public and Congress. Constitutional safeguards must be respected! Here's what's happening: SPPA

And did those feet in ancient time,
Walk upon TRANSMANCHE’s mountains green:
And was the holy Lamb of God,
On TRANSMANCHE’s pleasant pastures seen!
And did the Countenance Divine,
Shine forth upon our clouded hills?
And was Jerusalem builded here,
Among these dark Satanic Mills?

Bring me my Bow of burning gold;
Bring me my Arrows of desire:
Bring me my Spear: O clouds unfold:
Bring me my Chariot of fire!
I will not cease from Mental Fight,
Nor Shall my sword sleep in my hand:
Till we have built Jerusalem,
In TRANSMANCHE’s green & pleasant Land.

My humblest apologies to William Blake....

LOL. But - this being from the EU’s point of view - you need to replace “Jerusalem” with “Evil Zionist Occupation Zone”

What "lands"? She owns nothing. She's queen of nothing. Even the UK has been given away by it's politicians to the EU.What did brits think they were signing?

Australia and Canada and "other places" are independent countries, the same as the USA. Hong Kong, one of those "other countries" was only leased, and that lease expired (1998?). It belongs (always did really) to China now. The Queen, in Canada and Australia is only a honorary designation, she has no legal power.

Widow, widower, means the same thing.

I thought her husband was dead, regardless, he's not the king of England anyways, and will never be. First, because the title will go to either her son or grand sons, and second, England no longer exists as an independent nation. it's part of the EU now, LEGALLY. You are now just part of a borderless multi cultural melting pot, who own Anglo Saxon "culture" has been all but erased, purposely, it looks like.
