Massive pollution in Russia and her satellites proves when no one owns anything, no one cares for anything. The technical term is the Tragedy of the Commons.

Bolivia's President Evo Morales told the adoring crowd that "if we want to save our planet earth, to save life, to save mankind, we have a duty to put an end to the capitalist system."

This is absolutely the case. Its a shame too, because I believe there are real environmental concerns that should be addressed, perhaps even Global Warming. Its a shame that the hard Leftists get to use the problems as a proxy to push their agenda.

I’m a Ludwig von Mises fan from way back.

“...we have a duty to put an end to the capitalist system.”
More conveniently, he also demanded that trillions of dollars from the West be diverted to places like Bolivia, “to repair the earth.”
That evil capitalism allowed folks to be successfull, now we must grab some of that success because our preferred socialism failed us.

That’s right! There are some very wise taglines out there- they often prompt me to research the citation and learn even more.

Please check my homepage for a plethora of them! I hadn't seen the Mencken one in awhile - that's going up there now :)

It also brought the still-dead nuclear devastation of Chernobyl. Diverse as these regions are, the lack of capitalism means there was no accountability or incentives to save the earth. And, sadly, it's still that way now. According to the Blacksmith Institute, the 10 most polluted places on earth are in Azerbaijan, China, India, Peru, Russia, Ukraine and Zambia, all of which have long histories of communism, socialism or nationalist isolation, the very alternatives Morales proposes to replace capitalism.
Chernobyl's trees and wildlife are back, so even that wasn't nearly as catastrophic as portrayed. That accident** is still used by the enviro nuts as a lesson against nuclear power plants. (but nuclear is okay for France)

The Left wants us dead....
Exactly, so they can step in and become the savior of humanity from the insanity created by idiotic policies, which they themselves implemented. Read Sowell's 'Vision of the Annointed'...he's all over their grand scheme.

no, I think the agenda is more basic. I think it's a very long term strategy to wrest control of fossil energy assets. And I strongly suspect it has its roots in the KGB.
Yeah, I know, it sounds like tin-foil material.
But I think that's what's going on. At least I do now, given how I understand the state of the issue.

This guy either didn’t get the memo,
or, like a lot of lefties, he’s been hanging around with “like minded” folk in their lefthanded circlejerks and thinking that he could say this stuff out loud.
