WASHINGTON, April 21 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Speaker Nancy Pelosi released the following statement today in observance of the 38th annual Earth Day, which will be observed tomorrow, Tuesday, April 22:
Almost four decades ago, a group of visionary Americans energized the environmental movement, and indeed our nation, by dedicating a day to this ideal: we must preserve Gods creation, our planet, for the generations to come.
On this Earth Day, the greatest challenge facing the United States, and indeed our world, is climate change. Its effects already can be seen in severe weather, coastal flooding, deadly heat waves, and spreading infectious diseases.
That is why I made achieving energy independence and reducing global warming flagship issues of the New Direction Congress. We enacted bipartisan legislation that increases the efficiency of appliances and lighting and boosts fuel efficiency standards for cars and trucks for the first time in 32 years. This increase in fuel efficiency alone will reduce greenhouse gas emissions by an amount equivalent to taking 28 million cars off the road in the year 2020 alone. We also established a Select Committee on Energy Independence and Global Warming to raise the visibility of this crucial issue and are committed to considering carbon cap-and-trade legislation, which is critical to combating the climate crisis.
The Bible tells us in the Old Testament, To minister to the needs of Gods creation is an act of worship. To ignore those needs is to dishonor the God who made us. On this Earth Day, and every day, let us honor the earth and our future generations with a commitment to fight climate change.

Does Hollywood have to switch over to fluorescent bulbs?
Of course she loves “Earth Day”.
The very first one, in 1970, was held on the centennial of the birth of Vlad Lenin.
One-Hundredth anniversary.
To the day.
I need gas to do my part for Earth Day.
“Does Hollywood have to switch over to fluorescent bulbs?”
No, silly......
I had no idea tomorrow was earth day. I guess I’m going to have to buy a cigar and add to global warming. Maybe fire up the grill. Do my part to celebrate all the fine things that the earth provides for us.
Nancy Pelosi believes in God? Who knew? If this is the case why does she continually fight to keep Him out of the public square?
You need to be either brain dead or mentally incompetent to vote for Democrats
Led by hippie murderer Ira Einhorn.
You aren’t suggesting a link betwixt the two are you? I’d be shocked.
Is she serious calling climate change the biggest challenge the world faces? And how does she evoke God, bit hypocritical isn’t it?
Self-centered “secular” humanists worshipping the creation instead of the Creator. And they have a problem with religious conservatives? At least the Christian God is bigger than man, and not under man’s control. That wouldn’t suit the socialist fascists as well though.
I see a pattern.
Do you?
Is it my imagination, or does the left actually think their Kum by ya moments actually accomplish something?
Let us pray: Al, screw you and your global warming farce, your whole bag of lies, and your loyal minions who are using it to promote their socialist agenda. And btw, I could definitely use some of your global warming over here if you can spare any.
Suggesting a link? Certainly not. Not me. I’d never dream of such a thing.
Speaking of which...can someone tell me how the new light bulbs are more “green” than the regular incandescent ones? There’s no problem in throwing away the old ones, but the new ones have something in them that makes them hazardous to the landfill. What?
Note to self: Tuesday, April 22 is now national trash burning day... and be sure to dig a new garbage pit with the backhoe.
For my part, I filled up the tank of my SUV today with $3.69/gallon gas (10% Ethonol there, m'FRiend:) ... it was only $3.65 yesterday and I didn't take the opportunity then, but by Tuesday (Earth Day) it should advance to around $3.77 or so ... therefore, I feel that I've done something important for the Earth by filling up today ........
If she is going to turn this into a religious event, there had better not be any displays on public property.
Can anybody please tell me what passage in the OT that Speaker Pelosi is talking about?
